Great interview with Grant and the places he goes for pizza and cocktails:

We have both in the freezer, sadly with woefully little left in each.
I'm shocked, SHOCKED to find there is Cuban rum in that bar.
Ha!!! Ya, we just replenished from Puerto Vallarta a couple of weeks ago! Yummm.

What's the hoo-har with the quail egg ravioli?
I don't know what you mean by hoo-har, but that is one of the most sublime things I have ever put in my mouth.

After a 14 year hiatus, I am back in the restaurant industry. I refer to the chef as 'Chef' in the kitchen and on the floor, and by her first name when off the clock. I have a great deal of respect for her and her profession, yet I also feel like she is a friend of mine, so I think it would be weird to refer to her as 'Chef' when we're having a drink together.

Hi Ira!!! Best of luck to you! I look forward to getting up there once you're up and running!

The Patterson House has excellent food, and the cocktails can't be missed! You really can eat well there, and there's a wide variety to choose from; not your typical bar food by a long shot, thanks to The Ryan Harris and Josh! City House is worth checking out, too.

Raj Darbar has always been one of my favorites. On Halstead in Lincoln Park.

The people who started this thread have long gone, but for those still following, I just went to Palo Santo and had an outstanding meal! We had 9+ courses and wine pairings for just over $100pp. The food was incredibly well done, very fresh, their spices often just picked from their rooftop garden. The homemade tortillas and the fish taco were a standout for me. I look forward to going back!

Nuevo Leon is an inexpensive restaurant specializing in conventional Mexican cuisine (enchiladas, carne asada, etc), similar to the Mexican food you can find in any city in the country.
Really? I just moved to Brooklyn from Chicago, and I'd give my left arm to have anything resembling a Nuevo Leon around here!

Highlights included Kirk, Frog, Rob Cooper, Luke's, Cochon, the cocktail party at Presbetyre, and the Absinthe tasting at....gee, where was I by then?
The only lowpoint for me came when I had to leave before the week's end.

I think I'm addicted to the Juliet & Romeo.
I like mine better with Hendrix. Yummm!

This is probably a stupid question, but in case anyone knows anything: is there any reason to suppose TVH will be anything other than open on Memorial Day weekend? We're planning a trip from out of town, but TVH would be a big part of the weekend, so it would be pretty disappointing if it happened to be closed/private parties/anything like that.
They haven't been closed on Memorial Day in the past, but I can't speak for any private parties that may have been scheduled. If you're coming in for the whole weekend, I think you'll be able to get in. Enjoy!!!

I heard The Patterson House is now open for business.
What was the opening day like?
Hey Troy! It was really busy! Full house, small wait, lots and lots of cocktails and food out the door. Last night was smooth, not as busy, but the boys are amping up for a very busy next few nights. Phones are blowing up all around me with rezo requests. It's really so beautiful; when are you coming down?
Kristen, as soon as possible. The place sounds fantastic. The pictures I saw online were amazing.
And what's this I hear about a Bacon Bourbon Old Fashioned? Is it as good as it sounds?
I am in a world of crap for not having tried it yet, right? I'm making my way through the list; it'll come. So far, Vincent's Ruin is topping my list.

Are you guys open yet? I'm in Nashville and thirsty.
Yes!! Opening night was last night, and it's beautiful! I tried several of the cocktails:
Juliet and Romeo (of course, fabulous!)
Maisie Day
Maloney Negroni Variation
Spring Sazerac
Cooper's Bright (the only one I didn't flip for; it tasted a bit heavy on the St Germaine to me)
Blinker
Sipped on Reelfoot Manhattan, Terra Rica, Pimm's Cup...yes, I was there for a lot's of hours!
The food is amazing; last night I tried the Deviled Eggs, Meatloaf Sliders, Fig and Procsuitto Flatbread (YUM!). Can't wait for more later tonight!

Please. Tell me she's not awesome.
Ummm, 'Green Chartruese tastes like Hell'?
Really? Please...as in Two, please.

Do tell, as I've never heard of it: What is a red-headed slut?
I would tolerate a Flaming Moe as a TV reference, but not sure I's be able to stomach the cough medicine.

The dining options in the terminal at Midway are really poor.
They've got a Potbelly's, though...

Bradstreet just got a great review in CityPages:

Long weekend in NYC – Which of the high end places & Japanese?
in New York: Dining

If you are interested in Japanese Ramen, perhaps for lunch, you MUST go to Ippudo. Hand made noodles, the only other place on earth that you'll find them is in Japan. The Shiromaru Hakata Classic with thin-sliced Berkshire pork and an egg, and a side of bakudan to spice it up quite simply changed my life. Order a beer and you're in for about $20. Can't go wrong, shouldn't be missed. Have a great time!!
