  1. I have a friend that has never had a tasting menu, but my favorite places, like Textile, have closed within the last year. What restuarants currently offer a tasting menu on weeknights?
  2. The weather here hasn't been that bad lately, but it's always better if you're indoors. Brendan's on Westheimer, near the beltway has good BBQ and is pretty cheap. They Barbeque without sauce, which I love, although I know some don't care for. They have great sausage and baked potatoes, too.
  3. Tomatoes and sweet potatoes. I hated both as a kid, but I love fresh, farm grown tomatoes with just pepper and olive oil. I've learned to like sweet potatoes, like sweet potato pie or sweet potato fries, but I still hate that sweet potato casserole at Thanksgiving.
  4. The Bread Pudding is fantastic and has become one of my signature dishes, although I change things a bit. Also, the Calas (Rice Cakes) are great and Grillades and Grits as well, which I often Serve together.
  5. My favorite, and the most influential for me, was Paul Prudhomme's Louisiana Kitchen.
  6. David, what you said about Cafe Annie summed up my vibe. Of my friends that really like it, they never describe dishes that I would categorize as exciting. If I'm not excited about a restaurant from reading the menu, then I don't really feel like it's worth my time and money when there are other excellent restaurants out there that do excite me. Thanks for your input. Aldo's sounds excellent as well.
  7. Yes, Boulevard Bistro is still around and one of my favorite restaurants. I usually eat there at least once a month. They have a great Sunday brunch. I guess I should go to Cafe Annie, but from what I've heard from others it's a bit pretentious. Since there are two votes, maybe that's where we'll go. Thanks for all the input.
  8. I had forgotten about Mark's. I have been meaning to try it, so thanks for jogging my memory. Tasca is quite good, but I was looking for a splurge. I had thought about Quottro or Aries. Any thought on these places?
  9. My anniversary is coming up in August and I was looking for a great restaurant to try with my husband. Any suggestions?
