  1. We came down for last weekend from Chicago for a bachelor party and of course had to eat here. UNBELIEVABLE. We all loved that place, the special was a roast pork saddle wrapped with pork belly. I got to meet Steven and Audrey who couldn't have been any nicer. Plus we all walked out of there for less than 60 bucks each including tip and drinks. Great job guys.
  2. I just went to a tasting this weekend at Smokin T's BBQ in Long Grove. It is open Monday and could be very special. One owner is the exec chef at Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest and his father is or was the culinary director of the Greenbriar in West Virgina for many years. Interestingly he smokes short ribs instead of Brisket- very good. Let me know if anyone goes. Smokin' T's BBQ 3976 Rte 22 Long Grove, IL
  3. Quote Beavis and Butthead "You can't polish a terd"
  4. Schwa is ordering a whole lot of short ribs, tripe, and Crawford farm lamb from my company for being a veg menu!? I wouldn't cancel any reservations just yet. Anyway I'll find out first hand on the 24th.
  5. My company sells meat to Sepia so I will not give a biased review. But I will say that Chef Kendal is sourcing the highest grade products that we can find him. Ex. Merguez sausage from Janie Crawford's farm in New Glarus WI. Muscovey air chiiled ducks from Grimaud Berkshire Pork Racks and bellies from Iowa All natural beef sirloin etc. etc. From experience I know when a chef takes as much care in chosing his products as Kendal does, the results always show. It has been a pleasure dealing with this restaurant and it will hit this city big.
  6. We just went to Quince last night and I must disagree with your assessment, we all loved it. The menu was well thought out and executed perfectly. The service was quite friendly and I would describe the atmosphere as very comfortable, even if the bathroom is in one of the hotel rooms. Although, I may be unique in appreciating those types of quirks rather than holding that against them.
  7. I just got an Email from Ryan last week. His Arizona restaurant is just getting finalized and will have a late fall opening. Yes, he has been in Spain the last few months. And yes, he will be missed in Chicago.
  8. Cuatro (2030 S. Wabash) is open until 2:00 a.m. Jerry Kleiner's, Room 21 is next door, Fred Ramos is the new chef. Very short cab ride. Other downtown spots tend to close earlier, but anything in the loop would be fairly close.
  9. Ina's (1235 W. Randolph) is walking distance from the park. Great breakfast and famous for her Fried Chicken. Also check out Cobra Lounge (Fulton and Ashland)after the show, very cool Rock and Roll bar. Friday Dinner; I agree with nsxtasy. There are too many great places in the area to miss Red Light, Marche, Vivo, Sushi Wabi, May Street Market, Moto, Follia, etc. One unique cheap eats would be PEREZ restaurant (Randolph and Peoria?) still operates a butcher shop out of the back and has great goat tacos, open breakfast thru dinner.
