    Dinner 2024

@RWoodYour wedge salad is calling my name. I'm hungry for a good salad with really good tomatoes. Mouth is healing nicely (I think). It's been easier than the last surgery. Still have a ton of stitches but since they're only on one side I can chew most anything now if I keep it on the non-stitch side. Very ready for these stitches to go away. They should dissolve in 2-4 weeks. I didn't take pictures of a lot of meals because they were mushy and boring lol. Lasagna that I made to have ready for the day I had surgery. Ronnie's plate Mine lol I got this off of Goldbelly. Heated that up the next day with some rice and more deviled eggs. I lived on deviled eggs for a few days lol. Fast forward a bit to steak quesadillas Regular ole hotdogs Venison cheeseburger pizza Ronnie wanted fried chicken. So that with Mac and cheese and cooked to death green beans Ronnie went fishing last Friday. Wanted to get into the walleye but none to be had. Came home with white bass so I made fish piccata. Potato salad, beans and ribs Last night was @Ann_T's Spicy honey garlic chicken
  2. I bought the Zuni Cafe Cookbook specifically so I could make that chicken. I still haven't done it 🙄
  3. What is happening to us that we aren't talking about this? It's Easter Sunday at 5:00 pm my time and no thread lol. We don't do a big family thing on Ronnie's side anymore for which I'm totally fine with. So, it's the two of us. We bought a big bone in ham on sale last week but decided we wanted lamb chops so ham went in the freezer. SV chops Spinach/garlic/butter/parm cheese concoction Deviled eggs Scalloped potatoes Maybe some artichokes...but maybe not Key lime pie for dessert
  4. Tell me you got turnip cakes at one of the Dim Sum places.

    Dinner 2024

This past week has been the Week of Shelby eating what she won't get to eat for a while starting tomorrow. Panko fried shrimp--shrimp was on sale at Sam's. I'm sad I didn't buy more because they were really sweet and good. Indianish carrot salad: carrots, diced roasted salted peanuts, salt, turmeric, oil, cilantro and lemon juice to go with chicken tikka masala (is it still called that if I added peas?) SV'd steaks, fried potatoes and salad to use up leftover fried shrimp I ordered a few things from Goldbelly to cheer myself up lol. Subs from White House Subs. Good. You get 4 huge sandwiches that we are still eating on. Along with that I got a couple of things from Hebert's Specialty Meats-Duck and andouille gumbo and seafood étouffée. I should be able to at least eat some of the soup parts and if I can't, it's an easy meal for me to make for Ronnie. Apple pie ice cream and a store bought cookie for dessert Yesterday I made a lasagna for tomorrow night after my surgery. I won't feel like eating but I won't have to cook at least. With leftover Italian sausage and sauce from the lasagna I threw together a pizza

I have no words. Every year I drool over your spargel. I'll be sure and take up the slack for the inlaws who don't want it next year .

    Dinner 2024

Thank you so much to each of you. I can't decide if I'm dreading it more this time because I know what's coming or what. I'm definitely taking this week to prep. I didn't do much of that the first time and I regretted it. Going back through the dinner thread during the time period of the last surgery it seems like I mostly made the same foods as I always do but added in something that I could eat. I'm going to make something like a lasagna to have for the first day so Ronnie has something and I don't have to cook because I won't feel like it. I mostly survived on wine I think LOL. Ronnie bought some on sale Boar's Head mortadella the other day. No pistachios, just black pepper corns. I didn't want it to go to waste so google to the rescue. Anthony Bourdain's Mortadella Sandwich --I browned the meat like the recipes says but did the rest on the panini maker. And I added some decent sliced cherry tomatoes. For dessert Mae Dawson's Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie a recipe I ran across that @Ann_T posted back in 2019.
  9. I don't remember the price--maybe 2.99/ lb? --nothing majorly cheap. No, the sale price was before St. Pat's.

    Dinner 2024

Beautiful fish, @Ann_T. I need to clean the top of my stove but before I do you've inspired me to fry some up too. Life is once again throwing things at me. Long story short the bone loss that was occurring in my mouth did not benefit from the painful and expensive laser surgery that I got a few years ago and I'm now having to get another tooth pulled and another bone graft. Eventually after it heals for many months I'll be having a post put in and then eventually a tooth. I'm so upset and frustrated I can't even express it. This week I gotta peruse old threads and write down ideas for foods I made back then and was able to eat. So the next several days I'm gonna eat what I won't be able to eat for a while. Arrrrgh!!!!! On to food: SV'd pork tenderloin Bierocks Avocado salad, quesadillas and RG beans Ronnie smoked a chicken. Been craving that. Scalloped potatoes and salad to go with Pepperoni pizza for Pi day Smoked chicken paninis Fried chicken (lotta chicken going on again) Chicken taco salad with stuffed poblanos SV'd papain free corned beef. 24 hrs at 155F @Mmmpompsroasted potatoes and the usual vegetables Reubens Roasted chicken and pasta Venison spaghetti red
  11. Smaller grocery store had CB's on sale--limit of two with $20 additional purchases. Papain free. Decided to SV. Went for 24 hours at 155F. Turned out really good. Went back and bought a couple more for the freezer.
  12. Well I sure wish this had been around when I was in school! Learning how to clean and butcher and cook --invaluable lessons. Thanks for sharing this.
  13. 🤣 We need to come up with a cooler name like Moose Farts...... If I remember right @Kim Shookmade this too and liked it. It's really refreshing on a hot summer day.
