  1. Oh, forgot to say...I really wonder what all the other Pimm's formulas were like. The rye, whiskey, brandy based formulas. Has anyone ever had a Pimm's formula other than the current preponderant one?
  2. I'm a huge fan, but only with club sode (for the Pimm's Cup). Sprite or Ginger Ale are too sweet for me. And if you go to the Napoleon House in New Orleans, they'll serve you their "famous" Pimm's Cup with lemonade (not homemade lemonade)!! I go there and just specify club soda. Its getting to the time of year when Pimm's Cups start to taste really good (at least in the Northern Hemisphere).
  3. Totally! There is a long running thread on the Tiki Central forum making fun of all kinds of drinks on that site. Some of the best ones are these guys that invent their own drinks with 11 different liqueurs, Sprite, OJ, Pineapple, and Grenadine (a lot!). Or a variation on that. Basically, a syrupy, sweet mess. They make these drinks and think they're really cool. Yech!
  4. Even the "good" flair bartender's drive me nuts. They spill half the liquor, mess up the ratios, and you die of thirst before you get the drink.
  5. I want it to do twists, sometimes long twists for Vesper Cocktails. If I slip with a pairing knife, I need another lemon (or a bandaid).
  6. I want one that will last, preferably all metal. The Rosle ones look nice. What do you think? OK, I just saw this one... http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KG055BU-L...7430101&sr=1-15 I am partial to Kitchenaid utensils, and this knife it 90 degrees opposed to the handle. This looks like it could be a good thing. It seems like it could work more like a peeler where you pull it with your hand while pushing on the fruit with your thumb.
  7. Chuck Taggart has a few recipes he uses with Abbott's on his Gumbo Pages. Verena Abbott Cocktail http://www.gumbopages.com/food/beverages/verena-abbott.html Reveillon Cocktail http://www.gumbopages.com/food/beverages/reveillon.html
  8. Anyone else got any ideas. I need an all-metal strainer. The WMF is nice, but quite contemporary looking. I'm looking for something more old fashioned, made from stainless, that will last.
  9. Not sure if you want to go here, but there is the Mind Eraser. Layer 1 oz of vodka, Kahlua, and tonic water in that order in an ice-filled Old Fashioned glass. Insert a straw. You need to suck the drink up through the straw all at once so you get the ingredients in order, bottom to top.
  10. Here are the families (or structures) I use on my site. Some you already have, some are new. A few I have may not be considered original drink families (Iced Tea). And I threw Sour in as a kind of catch-all. I need to put descriptions up for them...haven't yet.
