  1. Thank you all for the recommendations! Where have I been? Obviously not in the Edison area! Can't wait to try a bunch! So many places, so little time!

Thank you for reminding me, Rosie! After a co-worker recommended this restaurant, we went for the first time this past winter and really enjoyed it! I can't say that I remember exactly what we had, but I'm sure it was fish! We sat in the back area where it was cozy and quiet. The service was also very good and we enjoyed the BYO aspect. I guess since the restaurant is off the main street, it is easily forgotten.
  3. Since I work in Somerset County, I am lucky enough to visit this store approx. every other Friday or so to pick up fish and/or a few interesting items that I can't get at Shop Rite. It's funny, but just a few days ago I was on their website as usual looking for them to announce a new location in Northern NJ (since I live in that area) because they have repeatedly mentioned more NJ stores to come. Now it seems as if they are going more south. Here is the updated link: http://www.wegmans.com/guest/FAQ/store_que...ns_comments.asp By the way, has anyone heard when the new Whole Foods market is opening in Madison? It seems like it's been "coming soon" for a year now!
  4. [unlike, say Morristown, where there's one Korean restaurant in the area, several towns over (Parsippany)] Rachel, are you referring to the Korean restaurant in the Keo Ku plaza on Rt. 46 in Parsippany? I've passed it a million times and always wondered about it, although I do remember looking at a take-out menu once and there seemed to be more Japanese food listed. Do you recommend this restaurant and if so, do you recall certain Korean specialties I should try? By the way, what do you think about the Moroccan place, Marekesh next door...........as I'm sure you have been there too!
  5. I have been enjoying Moghul in Morristown for what seems like the past 10 years! The food and service has ALWAYS been excellent. The only thing I can say is lacking is the wine list. So, maybe it would be a good idea to visit their BYO Edison location! I would love to hear some recommendations for comparable or even better Indian restaurants in NJ as we enjoy a change in tastes, menus, atmosphere, etc. I've already been to Raagini in Mountainside, Kailash & Mela in Ridgewood, Chand Palace & Maharani in Parsippany and Mahal in Lincoln Park. I will soon try Namanaskar in Paramus as ngatti recommends. Thanks for your help!
  6. A welcomed addition to Morris Plains.... Nusantara Asian Cuisine just opened up last Tuesday in the Powder Mill Plaza West where Johnathon's Deli/Restaurant is, not to mention in the same spot where La Campagna in Morristown originally started over 10 years ago or so! Anyway, after picking up a menu and peeking inside yesterday afternoon, we decided to have dinner there last night. Their menu states that they serve Malaysian, Indonesian, Chinese and Thai. They say that their specialty is Indonesian as the chef is from Bali! Classy Asian decor - heavy, teak wooden chairs and tables, (which are all from Bali), glazing on walls, prints, statues, lanterns, etc. Staff is very nice, personable, eager to talk to their customers & to check on how everything is...a very welcoming feeling! Menu: Interesting mix of the 4 ethnic groups stated above. We had Lumpiang Shandhai- fried spring rolls, Roti Canai-pancakes w/curry chicken sauce and Tofu Delight- stuffed and w/peanut sauce. All excellent, yet they were out of a few apps. that sounded more interesting. For Dinner, we had Chicken Rica-Rica - grilled chicken in chili, lime leaf & ginger sauce and Balinese Chicken - broiled with a chili and tomato sauce. Both very spicy, yet very flavorful. Great seafood selection in which I would try next time. Dessert: Dadar- coconut pancakes with a sweet filling. As a matter of fact, they will be opening up a bakery next door which will sell Asian & European pastries..should be interesting! So, if you happen to be in the Morris Plains area and need a change from Penang in East Hanover or Thai Chef in Denville try this place - you may also be pleasantly surprised! 7. Thank you so much for the inside information, Rachel..........we took your advice and ventured out here on Friday night before the review would hit and really had an enjoyable meal! I have to admit that when my husband and I entered the restaurant, after a 45 minute ride from Morris County, we were a little taken back by the small size of the place which was only 1/3 full around 8:15, paper menus, and the air conditioning not running, but I reassured my husband and myself that this restaurant was highly recommended from e-gullet and was about to be written up so now was the time to experience it! Anyway, we were given a basket of Shrimp chips with a chili dipping sauce which was great. Apps: Mini Spring Rolls and Shrimp Summer Rolls which were also great - light, flavorful & fresh. Dinner: Lemon Grass Chicken - outstanding and Garlic Chicken also excellent. Dessert: Fried Bananas with ice cream - unfortunately out of the Steamed Banana Cake with Coconut & Peanut sauce. On our next visit, we would definately try the fish dishes and soups now that we've tried the basics, yet wonderful basics! The waiter/manager was very personable and helpful in making recommendations and did turn on the a/c! The restaurant remained pretty empty for the remainder of the meal which turned out to be nice change from the usual loud and crowded places we normally visit on the weekends. Luckily, we were able to experience this restaurant and cusine before the mad house begins! By the way, around 9:15 or so, someone was taking pictures of the restaurant......was that you Rachel and Jason?
  8. Thanks for the suggestion Jsibley, but most likely that restaurant was, "The Greek Gormet" on Rt. 46 in Pine Brook and it was short-lived. It took over the Tiffany Diner and only lasted about 6 months or so. We went there a couple of times and as Rosie stated, it wasn't too great--limited menu, ok food, dull atmosphere and never "caught-on" in that area. Although they did play great Greek music and I happened to find that particular CD at "The Greek Store". I guess we'll try "Under Athens" soon as another post referenced and hope that I don't feel claustrophobic eating in the basement!
  9. Hi Rosie..... I am sorry to hear that Muse turned out to be a dissapointment to you, yet glad to know that my husband and I weren't the only ones to feel that way. As soon as the review from the Star Ledger hit the papers a month ago or so we couldn't wait to make reservations that following Friday since we absolutely love Greek food and know that Greek restaurants are few and far between. We ordered wine by the glass as opposed to a bottle in order to try the different Greek wines which we really enjoyed, but we all know what usually happens when it's time for your second glass...the waitress is nowhere to be found and when she does take the order, it comes 15 minutes later after asking another person to follow up! (Another reason to choose a BYOW restaurant) The Meze-mixed dips, olives and cheese appetizer was ok, but nothing special. For dinner I also had the Shrimp and rice casserole which was recommended and surprisingly, I too was wondering what happened to the raisins! A huge dissapointment for the price. My husband had the Salmon with honey and walnuts which was good, yet small in portion and the Baklava turned out to be really good. Our waitress was terrible...disinterested and absent-minded with the wine refills and the manager/host didn't even thank us or say good night on the way out! I guess their big bar crowd will keep the restaurant afloat since the food isn't worth the price and the service stinks. On a positive note, the next day we searched the internet for the Greek wines we tried and actually came across "The Greek Store" (as you and the Boat Man noted below) and went that same day. We absolutely loved that store and had so much fun buying wines, cheese and the frozen spanikopita! We will be going back! With the Greek theme going for that weekend, we went to our favorite standby Greek restaurant on that Sat. night, "It's Greek to Me", but at the Ridgewood location. We haven't visited the other locations yet, but have always found this very casual location to have great food at a great value, not to mention that it's a BYOW!
