  1. My music tastes are all over the map. I have many different playlists and pick something to match my mood. And if I don't have any inspiration to use one of my playlists then it's Pandora's The Great Jazz Trio.

Many of my playlists contain tracks from David Benoit, The Ray Bryant Trio, 60s and 70s oldies, Beegee Adair, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Neil Diamond, and Barbra Streisand.

Today I'll get around to repackaging and freezing the meat, but I was too tired when we got home and too busy

Do you carry a vacuum sealer for portioning/storing?

Each time I see the peanut butter whiskey I say to myself, "um, no." It has less than zero appeal, and I love peanut butter.

Dessert time for my darling (and later for me): a bit of Christmas self-indulgence.

The Yuma Optimists Club has its annual fundraiser selling See's Candies from a stand. For the last year or three I've bought a big box for the badly-overworked, underappreciated staff in our post office. They know us, even though we're only part-timers! This year I got particular thanks because they feel so overwhelmed and mostly hear complaints.

While I'm at the stand, I buy a small box for us. Hey, the money goes to a good cause. 😉

    Ah .... See's.  🥰

  4. @Smithy I used the recipe from She Loves Biscotti. I've only made ricotta once before, different recipe.  I used whole milk. I used a spider to remove the curds and they were dry within a few minutes. Next time, quite a ways in the future,  I'll check the curds when I'm done removing them. I would have preferred it slightly more creamy.

The Lasagna recipe I used I've had for 50 years. I rarely make it.  We get 4 meals out of it.

  5. I got my start in sous vide in early spring 2020. I purchased an Anova PC 1.0 circulator. This year my Sweetie found a good deal on the Anova Wifi 1000 Watt circulator. We discussed it for a few minutes and I decided that would be a nice Christmas present. I like the slightly smaller dimensions. I don't care about the wifi at all. Tuesday for dinner I broke it in on some pork loin chops.

Tonight I used my electric safety can opener and videotaped the whole thing in action on a can of coconut milk. Unfortunately, I've discovered that I can't convert a video to a .gif as I'd hoped so I could post it here.

    Thoughts and observations:

    1. By now, @JAZ has probably already made her choice. Nonetheless I stand by my recommendation (eG-friendly Amazon.com link). This little gizmo is almost as entertaining and gratifying as a FoodSaver while being considerably less expensive. It is a little startling when I accidentally bump it in the gadget drawer and it buzzes to life. 🙂

    2. I haven't tried it on something as narrow as a can of tomato paste, so can't comment on its size limits.

    3. I tried it specifically on a can of coconut milk, after having looked at many cans of coconut milk before making my purchase. I really can't see why coconut milk cans would be any more challenging than any other produce cans. I have not tried this on a can of condensed milk, which doesn't have a neat rim. Maybe that would be problematic.

    4. The lid AND the can edge were both smooth. I'd be able to use the can as a biscuit cutter, but I wouldn't be afraid of cutting myself on either the lid or the can rim.

Sorry that I couldn't come up with good photos of the process!

Your recommendation was enough to make me pull the trigger and order one. I like our (my) handheld Swingaway crank handle opener.  My Sweetie, however, is a leftie and finds it basically impossible to use.

  7. I'm a fan of Thermoworks products. I recently bought a Smoke. For Thanksgiving I had my turkey poaching on the patio and next to it a pork roast in my smoker. I purchased the waterproof probe for the turkey. It was very handy to be able to track what was happening with the turkey and roast on the one remote.

I was using the biggest pot in the Princessmobile: the 12-quart stockpot we generally use for stews and chilis.

At home my biggest had been 16 qt. I've taken to poaching turkey for Thanksgiving and the 16 qt. was challenging to use. I bought a 24 qt. and it worked very well. Of course, it doesn't fit into the dishwasher. 😪

Restrooms also and A/C. Used to wait at the one nearest LAX for a text that my guests were here They did not have a public restroom for customers - sent you across parking lot to the large chain grocery. Claimed issues with homeless...

If they sell baked goods, etc. then they're in violation of the CURFFL regulations, AFAIK.

  10. I've read 2 recipes lately that call for a pressure cooker, which I own. Then I look at the instructions and they say something like, "Set your pressure cooker to the sear setting." That's an Instapot, which I don't own.

My daughter loves hers. I used it once, and didn't really care for it.
