The make-up test is next week. Be ready.

But, as Sr. Fenton says, we should give them a break, little mom and pop start-ups like this will take a little time to sort these things out...
snicker...again

And Subway shall flourish in the valley of the hoagie. For the fast food generation fodder wins over flavor.
And Subway begat Quiznos; and good bread was driven from the valley of the hoagie.

Judges didn't see the matzoh balls. Only his peers.

How Domino's and Papa John's survive in an area with edible pizza available is one of the great mysteries. I could see it if this was Kansas or something.

I don't know about prejudice. If so, why'd they take him at all?
In any event he was screwed. GRASSHOPPERS?! WTF Admittedly he didnt do much with them, he could have treated them like candied pecans or something.

I caught at least three or four typos on the menu, but I guess that that's to be expected at a little mom and pop restaurant that can't afford to hire a proofreader.

Taqueria Moroleon recently moved from Kennett Sq to Avondale. Its on Rt 41 at the DE border and appears to be a big hit. Filled parking lot for several days. We finally got in today at lunch and it was good. The food isn't inexpensive eg $8-11 apps and $10 to 18 mains, but portions are large. A weekday lunch menu is cheaper.
It appears to be righteous Mexican food judging by the number of Mexicans dining there. I cannot judge myself. Clearly it is different from the stuff served at other local places eg Palacio Maya, which I find unpalatable at best.
The stuff at TM is good, well-seasoned and not covered with gloppy sauces as seems to be the Southern CC norm. I can't give a learned critique, but I like the place.

Off-gassed the oxygen??
Boiling will do that better and more completely than any hot water heater. And how does he know that O2 contributes to the flavor of pasta? It doesn't get oxidized as in a maillard rxn in a pan.

Inquirer has heard something it seems.

Gorgeous photo. A little frightening too.

This would not be a violation. Sounds delicious!

So would it be OK to wear my baseball hat on backwards at Daniel?

Many of them are allowed to vote too.

Totally agreed, eldereno. Come on, Bravo ... if you start showing new episodes on random Wednesdays, you'll lose me as a viewer.

There is lots of semi-informed stuff on the net about foods and additives. Bold assertions are made by people who know little and don't know what they don't know.
A great example is all the nonsense about glutamate being bad for those who are gluten sensitive. The sole basis for this concern is the similarity of the names of the compounds...not their structure or their activity.

Two Fat Guys in Northern DE has a humongous Fat Guy Burger and, naturally, an eating contest.
What is on this giant burger? "What isn't?" is a better question. It is gross in all senses of the word.

The Legal Seafood at BOS isn't pretty, but the food is good there.

If you are going to submit a restaurant in a hotel at DFW, what about the restaurant in the new Grand Hyatt at Terminal D? Still not inside security, but it's actually part of the terminal. From the photos, it seems like they have a fairly interesting setup for solo diners.
That place hasn't impressed me. They do singles well, but the whole restaurant is open and close to the bar and noisy and the food is just OK. When the GH opened I expected a better place considering.

My Criteria: -Must be on airport property,
-preferably within security,
-serve individually cooked meals...ie no food courts
-have a dedicated place to sit..ie no food courts (I despise food courts)
I'll start. Mr G's at the DFW Hyatt Regency. It is a truly first class steakhouse, full menu, decent wine list, tuxedo-ed waitstaff, good food. Except the desserts, which are limited. Only drawback is that it is outside of security, but their van will pick up up and take you back.

Twas ever thus. I grew up there. The most there ever was was in Ch. Hill and none of them were great except when Tell Erhardt was in town.

Pretentious food has a lot to do with the spirit of the guy who cooks it. What's pretentious for one wouldn't be for another.
Pretentious food also varies with the setting. Fancy, white tablecloth-type food at a football tailgate or a school lunchbox is pretentious, but not at Daniel.

Here's a link to an Inquirer bit on the place, which is about to open in a day or two.
Looking at the pix of pies (linked at the end of the article) they seem long on crust and short on toppings.
Anybody had one of them yet?
