  1. I have been soooo enjoying everyone's posts...What got me? Was memories past-I used to be a trouble shooter for a travel company that had a location in Brantford (not far from London) - once I got there, I think I entered the realm of Donut Haven as I swear every street corner had a donut shop! My coffee order first thing in the morning was a double-double. What else got me? I have family up in Canada - and one of many brothers live in Mississauga. Anyway, to the good stuff - any chance you can send me some Maple Walnut ice cream?! Just kidding, but it is an impossibility to find it here in Florida. The frajita dinner looked great! And as for the rustic tart - heaven! As someone mentioned earlier, the juice leaking over and around and in between added to the "rustic' look. You two are doing a great job and thanks for letting me trip down memory lane!
  2. OR...you are in the process of making coffee, you get distracted, you add the water BUT FORGET TO PUT THE COFFEE IN....nothing like a little hot water to wake you up in morning!
  3. If you let a friend help you in the kitchen - be sure to keep your peripheral vision in working order, otherwise, you will have a "burn" ring on your counter from a hottttt pottttt. The worst thing - he tried to 'erase' it by using a grill pad!! (Luckily for me I was in the planning stages of remodeling my kitchen.)
  4. Some suggestions You mentioned that someone was a steak kinda guy... Charley's Steak House is considered the best and they do offer a shuttle service from the hotel to their establishment...I would recommend however, that you go to the Charley's located on OBT (Orange Blossom Trail) as opposed to the one on I-Drive. (Just the local comments come to mind). La Cantina is very good but will be a ride. (on E. Colonial Drive - Hwy 50) Another great place, Seasons 52 - good for those undecided as they have a little of everything - and all good. They too are on Sandlake Rd. Carrino's - for Italian (also on Sandlake Rd.) Recommended by a friend of mine who is an Italian for New York. Side note: Le Coq Au Vin is located on Orange Ave. and is very good also but is not close to where you are staying - its a ride - but worth it. Just so you don't miss it if you are looking for it...The restaraunt looks like a house with a veranda of hanging baskets - situated across (approx) from Ft. Gatlin. (Just realized you have already been - perhaps on your next visit you can try the above. Rather than deleting this post - perhaps someone can use it as a reference for their stay.)
  5. Banff has gone pretty commercial but if you go to the Banff Springs Hotel - there was always some fine dining there. It is a gorgeous place - you'll love it! Overall, there is a pretty good mix of everything offered but I can confirm that when I speak with my brother (went there with his kids this past week-should be back in a week or so).
  6. Just a quickie.... Some friends of mine from Berl'n, Was sent to a state of hurl'n. When they ate Mickey-D's - Their intestines did seize- The commode, I can hear, still whirl'n.
