  1. CONGRATS, HAROLD!!

Yeah, what's up with Tiffini's statement "MY back just found your knife, Harold" ??

He didn't do anything to her!! She has no one to thank but herself for her bad luck.

  2. I like Rachael Ray and I like most of her shows. I read her magazine, and I will

check out her new talk show when it starts. To me, she is like a breath of fresh

air. She is spunky (for lack of a better word), giddy, happy, sappy, full of joy,

    and just downright FUN!!

Yeah, her giggling gets out of control at times. Her arm-waving as if she is an

octopus on speed gets a bit tiresome. Hubby and I just look at each other and

roll our eyes. But, really, after watching one of her shows, I just come off feeling better

about my day in general

Not everyone is Emeril, who uses ingredients from the nether-regions of the

world; or Paula Deen, butter-queen of this century; or Bobby Flay (I'm still trying

to figure him out - but that's okay, he is what he is!!) I know she's been knocked for using

store-bought ingredients. Her show is "30-Minute Meals" folks, so this is no huge surprise

Quite frankly, I just don't understand all the RR-bashing and the websites

dedicated to it. That being said, I am a huge fan of Anthony Bourdain, the

complete opposite end of the spectrum. I haven't found any websites dedicated

to bashing him (not that I have looked). And, yeah, I've heard his comments about Rachael . . . whatever!! :raz:

    I guess I'll get razzed for being a RR fan. That's okay . . .

    YUM-MO!!

    hehehehehehehe

  3. What a cool thread!!

    I can't stand:

Whole milk - I'll use skim in cereal, but I won't even drink that.

mayonaisse - the smell, the texture, the taste. But, I do love tartar

sauce!! Strange, I know. Mayo by itself on a sandwich or burger is gross.

liver - need I say more?

Corned beef and cabbage - yackaroo!!

butter - I don't mind it if it is completed melted, but cold butter on toast or

    bread - shew!!

papaya - As a kid on a Girl Scout trip many years ago, I was dying of thirst and

amother girl gave me a swig of her papaya juice. Next time, I'll just die of thirst.

licorice - texture and flavor nauseates me

sake - I tried it at the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot a couple years ago and had

to throw it out. The next time I want to drink lighter fluid, I'll just go out to the

    garage.

I don't understand ketchup. I'll eat it if I have to, but I'll choose BBQ sauce over

ketchup every time - on burgers, hotdogs, etc. (although I rarely eat a hotdog

anyway) With fries, I like tartar sauce - no ketchup. My soon-to-be-ex sister-in-law eats ketchup on her salads. Nasty

I love salt on potatoes and popcorn - but on watermelon??? :hmmm::blink:

I've never understood that!! And, I love margaritas and I know salt is all part

of it, but make mine without please!!

I do like cilantro, olives, raw or cooked tomatoes, wine, beer, coffee.

  4. My hubby and I swear by this stuff!

For the past year or so, I'd noticed that after eating (and even sometimes in

between meals) I just had this heavy, unsettled feeling in my middle, as if

digestion was slowed to a crawl.

I saw an ad on TV for Activia and from the way it was described it was helpful

in aiding digestion with those fun, little bacterial agents.

I started eating one a day 3 weeks ago and noticed a change after one day.

I had no diarhea and no extra gas (TG!). The funky feeling in my gut disappeared

immediately. My hubby (who detests yogurt) decided to try it, and now he eats

it every day. He says he noticed a change as well.

  5. Don't laugh - I've never been able to master chopsticks.

I eat sushi with a fork. In fact, I cut up each piece into 4 or 5 smaller

pieces and eat them with the fork. I have always eaten smaller bites.

It doesn't matter what it is. Pieces of sushi are just too big for me, besides

I like to savor the flavor and too much food in my mouth at one time

    just doesn't cut it.

That being said, I usually get my sushi from the grocery store and eat it

at home. Eating sushi in this manner in a restaurant get a few strange

looks, as you can imagine.

  6. Years ago, I never would have considered dining alone.

Now, being in my 40's and caring less and less what other

people think  , I don't give it a second thought.

On another note: I see that some of you do some writing while dining out.

I am a part-time mystery shopper, and I wonder how many

establishments wonder if you are a shopper and taking notes for

the shop - LOL (which is a no-no, but some silly souls do it anyway).

  7. Hey, y'all!! This is my very first post on this forum, and I am happy to be here.

My only regret is that I did not join the forum sooner, as Top Chef is about to

    air its finale.

Of the 3 finalists, I believe that Harold is the top contender. True, he is quiet and

reserved at times, but in my opinion, he has the talent, the skills, the personality,

etc to run his own restaurant and go far in his profession.

Tiffani is a great cook, but needs some social skills. I've seen her at her compassionate moments

(few and far between, of course), but her insults

and thumbing her nose down at others will hinder her. I have worked for

holier-than-thou types, and they are not pleasant to be around.

    Dave . . . he's so precious, so sensitive . . . gotta love him. I just don't

think he has what it takes to be TOP chef. He is endearing, though.

    Just my 2 cents.

BTW, I, too, hated to see Leann go! She would've gotten my vote!!

Stephen - I have to admit he started to grow on me. Annoying as hell though.

Ken - I missed the very first episode, so I did not have the pleasure of seeing

him in action. I get the feeling I didn't miss much.

Candice - I think that if she sticks with it, she'll grow into it. She's just too

    inexperienced.
