  1. Thank you pedalaforte for your list! Do you know if Trattoria Della Posta is open for lunch? I met Piero from Guido on a recent visit but have not eaten there. I had great meals years ago in Costiogle at the original Guido.I would imagine a much different menu? The new restaurant was quite contemporary as I remember-cuisine as well? And what about La Enoteca in Canale? Belvedere is on my list...
  2. I have tried to get reservations at Trattoria Della Posta for lunch in October and was told they were closed for lunch on Thursday and Friday? If so how about a few other recs in the area?
  3. Thank you very much Rogelio for your suggestions... Any ideas of locations more in-between? A wine area would be great!
  4. Thank you for the heads up... I'm looking for a place somewhere between these two areas. Perhaps around the 300 mile mark. I don't mind being in a very remote area if I can find very good local cuisine. Any suggestions? A wine region would be preferable...
  5. Any recommendations for an evening between Girona and Bilbao? Looking for lodging and great rustic cuisine...
  6. Having returned yesterday, and having eaten at L'Atelier twice on my recent trip, I felt the experiences on both nights were very different. The first night was buzzing and a magical time. Each dish was superb and the behind the counter service top notch and very helpful. We had made a 6:30 reserevation (the only way to reserve). The next time I visited, I had no reservation at around 10pm. I spoke to the man at the door explaining how great an experience we had had a few nights prior and how I wanted to share this again with another friend. He escorted us to a small bar outside the restaurant and told us to wait. We waited a VERY long time. I got up to see how the restaurant looked during this time and saw seats available. My impression is that for locals it is less a problem to get seated so RESERVE...
  7. I just cut to the chase and signed up for an international calling plan with my local provider. It was about five dollars. My calls were less than a minute each and were answered by people who not only spoke English, but were quite nice as well. All gave their names as well a request to reconfirm the day before. Good luck...
  8. I am booked for Astrance, as well as Le Meurice (both for lunch). As for Gagnaire it seems all you nice people who responded only mentioned him and not Savoy (as to my original query). It will surely be a tasting menu at either. It seems this is the way to go, for sure, at Gagnaire. Best, Alonzo
  9. Planning a weekday lunch at either Guy Savoy or Pierre Gagnaire. This will be a blow to both my mind and current economic situation for sure! Any thoughts out there regarding these two, or possibly another establishment?
  10. Was wondering if anyone out there might have recently dined at Le Pre Catelan. I have a Saturday lunch reservation.
  11. Villa crespi I found very stodgy, Al Soriso less so. I would suggest lunch at Al Soriso. The food is superb,as well as the service - less oppressive during daylight. I found the Hotel Orta on the lake a great value. Ask for a lake view room. My room overlooked the charming square and lake. If you are a light sleeper, stay away from the square... Ranco, in my opinion, and I respect the Broveli family, can't compare to Al Soriso, and it isn't much closer to Malpensa.
