  1. Corporate Wine (http://www.corpwines.com/) is wine retailer in Woburn MA that has an online service as well. Has anyone had good or bad experiences using them? Thanks.
  2. Thanks anyways, Felice. Let's give it a name. I'll get it started... 1. au coude (at the elbow) 2. a l'intersection Suggestions?
  3. Does anyone know if there is a specific word or restaurant lingo that describes the seating of two diners at 90 degrees to one another, when seated at a square or round table? This is how I prefer to be placed for a nice meal, rather than directly across or directly side by side, but I never know how to describe it to the hostess, and it ends up being a lengthy confused discussion with the person taking my reservation before the meaning of my request is actually understood! What about in French? Same? Thanks. Pete
  4. We are two foodies and wine geeks visiting Alsace in September as part of a three week trip to France - going also to Burgundy, Champagne, Roanne, Paris. We've had good experiences in the Cote d'Or before, with calling ahead for a few key appointments with growers/producers, and otherwise driving around the vineyards, getting out to see whether the dirt of Clos Vougeot is different from Musigny, etc. Alsace will be a first time visit for us. Can anyone offer some advice on how to get the best experience from the region? We have 5 days and a car. Staying in Strasbourg two nights and then Illerhausern (sp?). Are there producers that we should be sure to visit? In other regions (Cote d'Or, Napa, etc) we have had great educational experiences when you get the winemaker in person, and have a chance to taste from the barrel, and we would like to have that experience in Alsace. We speak enough French to get by. Eating at Beurehiesel, Auberge de L'Ill, Auberge de Blanche Neige. Also, advice on where else to stay would be helpful. Thanks. Pete
  5. We have a table at Troigros for a Sunday in September, and are looking for a follow up on the Monday, but many of our choices are closed (Pic, Leon de Lyon, Le Bec). Any suggestions? We're headed up toward Champagne, but any place within a couple hours of Roanne would be fine. Thanks.
  6. Have read about this place (http://www.restauranteleven.com/). Anyone with a personal experience? There is also Gambrinus which has no website. Thanks. pete
  7. Planning a trip to southwest FR for a week and then continuing down to Spain. Where to eat in Aquitaine? I was in Beaune last year and had wonderful meals at Ma Cuisine, Ciboulette, Tontons. I'm looking for these kinds of places. Any suggestions?
