I'm visiting Montreal on July 5th, and am curious about the Foie Gras Poutine. Since I might not get a chance to go to the restaurant (not enough time), can I just pop in and see if I can get a seat? Or would I need a reservation? Thanks!

Thank you all for all the great suggestions. I can't wait to go to Japan and eat! I am actually leaving this friday and will stay there for a week. Thanks, JasonTrue, for such a thorough and informative answer. We are going to be using the rail to go from Tokyo to Osaka and back (with side excursions to Kyoto and Nara). Perhaps it might not be a good idea to get the unlimited JR Pass in this case. I will look more into other options to see if that makes more sense for us. Ohba, do you have the names of any of the affordable sushi places that you would recommend in Tokyo or Osaka?

Hi all, we will be traveling to Osaka and Tokyo for 3 days each and would like to get your expertise on where we should go for great food! I love Okonomiyaki and really wanna try monjayaki so any recommendations for where to find those would be great. Also, I am looking for a good sushiya and tempura place, as well as any other gems. We're hoping not to spend a lot of money, so medium/cheap priced places would be best. However, we are willing to spend a little more for a once in a lifetime experience.
