  4. We are celebrating HALWA week, day #2 at My Dhaba. Yesterday was Carrot halwa and today it is Potato halwa, Malai halwa, and Sago halwa. Hope you like these. Cheers!

    Folks - need help! I have some fresh, large, dark-green, juicy Spinach preserved to prepare something new. Does anyone know how to make Spinach-Chicken? Or any other suggestions to use Spinach and Chicken? Really appreciate your help on this.

  9. Master Cook is probably what you're looking for. I prefer NutritionData because I only have an occasional need for it and I'm a cheapskate. MC costs $20 and ND is free. Nutrition data had the added benefit of being web based and hence accessible from anywhere. I had about a half dozen ingredients and two or three recipes and my pantry was 3-4% full so it's obviously very limited on space. But you can export ingredients and recipes. It has very complete nutritional information. And you can output a high res graphic summary of the nutritional information in exactly the style that the put on commercially produced packages. I always get a chuckle looking at the nutritional summary that I did for poutine. Also you can't really store recipes - only ingredients. If you only want a nutrional analysis every once in a while and don't need to rely on keeping the results and don't need to store large numbers of recipes and don't need to filter or otherwise organize the recipes then nutriondata.com should be perfect. Otherwise, you may need to pony up the dough for MC. ← Stuart - I instantly fell in love with the graphics and summary. Thanks a ton for sharing this info. COOL site! I am quite inspired by its looks and am going to run this for few recipes of my recipes to see the differences before finalizing my purchase. Thank you once again.

    WOW! Thank you very much everone. I am quite overwhelmed now to see all of your wonderful responses for a simple post on Greens. So many things to learn apart from my niching on traditional Indian home cooking, now I know. I am going to run back and read the posts once again and will get back to you one-on-one to clarify should I have any questions to ask on the recipes that you have mentioned here. So, greens are everyone's favorite healthfood. Isn't it?

    Of late, we have been fascinated by the myriad benefits of GREENS. They are a vital source of essential minerals, calcium, and vitamins; all those health protecting elements of food. We are very curious to know all different recipes that you know to eat our greens. Hope you would also agree and share with us about your encounters with your daily greens. Here are three different traditional recipe details to share with you for today - Creamed greens sauce, Amaranth Poreel, and Drumstick leaves fried with eggs. How do you eat your greens? Let's share.

  15. It would be really helpful if you would share the methodologies adopted for calculating calories per serving. Websites which talk about this subject give different values contradicting each other. Are there standard practices, just curious! For example, here are two dishes for which we were trying to calculate calories per serving: Prawns Jalfrezi and Minced meat croquettes. Cheers! Happy holidays!

    You folks are incredible coming up with WOW dishes; inspiring me too much to learn all those fusion foods out there :-) I feel really cocooned for being a traditional Indian chef We were simply testing our skills to make a more thicker and delicious Mutton (goat/lamb) and potato curried sauce than the previous ones we cooked, and the improvised result is worth mentioning to you - Mutton and Potato Curried Sauce.     Merry Christmas everyone! Cooking rice is always a blissful experience especially when it turns out light, fluffy, non-sticky, non-gluey. Cozying up at home on a Christmas holidays, we cooked our favorite Vegetarian Fried Rice today. Cheers!

    Hi Pan – We are so delighted to know that you liked our chilly chicken recipe. Soy sauce is one of the essential Indian cooking ingredients. It is not unusual that we use it in salad dressing, as a marinade for chicken or steak, and in most of the stir-fried dishes like cauliflower manchurian, all chinese-style fried rice, chilly chicken, ginger chicken, pepper chicken, just to name a few, for its richness of flavor, saltiness, viscosity, to enhance color, enhance aroma, etc. Perhaps, soy sauce was migrated from China to almost all other cusines of the world. We love it as a substitute for monsodium glutomate (ajno motto). Hope this info helps. Cheers!

  22. Most part of the world is experiencing one of the most damp and chilly days where the weather changes are affecting everyone out there. We at My Dhaba wanted to post about some dish today which those affected friends would really enjoy accompanied by a cup of steaming hot Special Masala Tea or coffee. We have chosen and cooked wheat suji and vermicelli Khara Baath aka Upma for our today's post as a virtual treat to you folks. Enjoy and stay warm!
