  1. Perhaps you have all heard of this place.... Miette in Stow-on-the-Wold? I am a total chocoholic and have made it a life mission to find my 'resting place' and there it was - I just stumbled upon it. I have travelled the world over and have tried chocolates through from Puccini in Amsterdam, Christian Constant in Paris, Cacao Sampaka in Barcelona, Homemade Single Estate Chocolate in Venezuala and obviously Melt in Notting Hill and l'Artisan du Chocolat - the list is endless. I walked past this place in the Cotswolds, of all places, and thought I'd buy a few chocs to nibble upon and was staggered by the quality - I immediately went back to buy more/find out more. They opened this year and this girl has real talent - she makes the chocolates on the spot, daily - apparently Daylesford want to swallow her up, am not sure if this a good thing or not. She is completely commited and talented and I want to support her but cannot eat enough to do so. Can anyone who is in/visiting the area have a look and confirm my suspisions that she really might the best chocolatier in the world. www.miette.co.uk (though the website does not do it justice)
  2. I look at all of the guides but mainly stick to The Which Guide. We have our own restaurant and hotel and are thrilled to be included in it as it means that several people recommended us before they even came review us (which they do anon.). The Time Out guide seems 'dazzled' by hip and high profile places and I have been let down on several occasions, booking way in advance and spending a fortune on a mediocre meal with crappy service.
  3. Just got back and still nowhere closer to finding fresh gluten free bread in Paris. I did go to Monprix behind Galeries Lafayette and they had a fabulous selection of swag. Wonderful madeleines and little raisin buns as well as some fairly decent biscuits. Also Fauchon do a gluten free almond cake (quite expensive though) packed up in a little pink box. I'll still keep looking.
  4. I am gluten free and have been to Paris on many occasions and have yet to find any gluten-free bread. Would love to find some and will continue my search when I go out next week. There is some good news though.....Pierre Herme macaroons do not contain flour (need to check this when you buy some) and they are heavenly.
