  1. you people are a bit nuts. stores are sweet in union square because not just because you stuck up manhattan metrosexuals live in the area, but because so many trains go through there, among mo-other reasons. its not that you can get all that crap you want better and cheaper from the indies but who seriously has time to go to chinatown for live shrimp and zabars for some dips and citarella for a great brioche and to brooklyn for some meat and still eat before midnight. TJ will bring a bunch of great product to the hub of lower manhattan to one store with a great business model. chillz people, move on, move on. daniel, lets get boozed up and hit tj's just to have some fun.
  2. most of you need to get out of Manhattan more! The db bistro burger is famously expensive but awesome and the Luger burger is a legend, just ask Jack Black (he comments on luger's legend in the commentary on School of Rock), but i am on a personal quest to find really the best burger in the city and here is my up-to-now findings. The best burger is (unfortunately seasonal only) at ShakeShack. Its an InandOut copy that takes the original and steps it up with better quality everything and its really an amazing cheeseburgy! Red Hook hosts the bar named Hope and Anchor who serves an amazing burger too, well worth the drive out and karoke is amazing there too. Finally, Cobble Hill (union st i think)'s Alan Harding and co's Schnack is in the running too for a cheap and fantastic snack. Virtually accross from lugers too is Diner, who's burger is almost as good as it's location and terrific vintage building. Ok hit me with more burgers please, my arteries are not going to clog themselves!!! O also lucky burger is decent on ave A too...great for late night quick grease fix.
  3. i'm just excited i dont have to drive to long island to get their terrific jalapeno and artichoke dip, frozen tiramisu, and pirates booty. i hate wholefoods, not only because they are not that good in the city, but their product is not as reliably yummy and its generally overpriced. tj's product is in my opinion much more quality in terms of taste. Also i was in LA on the weekend and their cali wine selection in store was pretty decent for their prices.
