  1. My best friend from childhood just got engaged and I want to throw her a little cocktail party. I have some wild and rare lounge music, but that's about all. eegads, what are the basics here? p.s. given the warm weather and my Martin Denny vinyls, this could go Tiki.
  2. perhaps we should stop cutting courses like home ec. or offer one with a more appealing title like "boiling water 101"...sounds kind of like a food network program though.
  3. I agree too! Just keep an eye on your food stuffs that are apt to roll down the hillside, otherwise you too may lose several nectarines to the delight of french hippies seated near the base. I would do roquefort, pears and a nice juracon. And if you're feeling really whimsical, after, go eat some madeleines from fauchon on la madeleine and watch all of the cars buzz around. This last is just proof that a picnic can take place just about anywhere in Paris, albeit a little impromptu and not including all food groups.

    Arles

How lucky you are to be visiting one of the best cities in France! Go for the Roman ruins, Van Gogh (pronounced van gog) and perhaps a bullfight. There is a pass you buy at the tourist office that gives you access to the Roman arena, theater, forum, circus, baths and to one or two museums. Everything can be seen on foot, including the space where the painter was once interned. Here there is a famous garden and a nice cafe where you can seek solace from the sun. As for the food, I was sick there - le sel de camargue makes for a great gargle.
