    Per Se

So Ive been dying to go to Per Se for a long time now, despite some of the reviews Ive read that suggested it may be a waste of money. And now since I have finally returned home to NY (Ive been in Boston for school), I would like to secure a reservation sometime before I return to Boston. Ive been trying (unsuccessfully) the past week to get a reservation (I know the drill, 10am + 60 days/2 months). Can anyone offer any tips on how to get a reservation for 2? Is it worth it to try for a waiting list? From what Ive read, Per Se only has one true 2 top, which I imagine would only be seated 1-2 times/night. I only know one other person who would go with me, would it be worth it to try to scavenge for 2 more? Would that make getting a reservation easier?
  2. I agree with the poster who thought the sushi all tasted the same. The desserts were weak, with the exception of the fruit, which seemed most friendly. The selection was great for a buffet, and I agree that it is a good value; however, being the sushi snob I am, I will never go back. The fish wasn't quite fresh, most of it had the consistency of chicken, if I may say so: not tender enough, and too chewy. The food was constantly being updated throughout the meal, but I would much rather go to an a la carte place than a buffet.
  3. I would surely choose Fugakyu over Oiishi. I have eaten at both several times, and I feel like they are both excellent, but Fugakyu edges out Oiishi on various points such as ambience and bar drinks. Oiishi has a bit more creative dishes, both are similarly prices, but Oiishi is VERY cramped, which may lead to a rushed/claustrophbic dining experience. The set up of Fugakyu is quite wonderful, especially with all the private booths, and rooms. Overall, I felt Fugakyu was cleaner. The fish at each were both very fresh, and both had plentiful menus. Other sushi restaurants in Boston do not compare. Even a lot of the restaurants in NY.
