We went to Morton 3 times for the same coupon deal in July '05 with different group of people each time. Must mentioned that the Melting Chocolate Cake is the best in town, IMO. Good size, warm, and very dreamy chocolaty. It's a pretty good deal all in all. Oh, and I really like their mint. Smooth, melt in your mouth kind. For some reason, the tea relaxes me, makes me less groggy, and no more chocolate cravings. Granville Island might be perfect for some girlfriend time providing lots of distraction for kids. For lunch, they can get some sandwiches in the market, leisurely stroll to the little park on the entrance of granville island, eat, talk, feed the kids, and talk some more while the kids play on the nearby playground or watching the ducks. Rainy day alternative, I'd suggest Kirin Restaurant on Alberni between Burrard and Thurlow (downtown). They have superb dim sum items: - sticky rice (soft, melt in your mouth, and most importantly, loaded with good stuff like eggs and beef, not just rice) - prawn with chives in clear skin dumpling (very tasty) - tofu with mushroom - shark fin dumpling soup (again, very tasty) and also the best Tan Tan Noodle in town thin egg noodle (fresh) in meat (ground beef) and light peanut sauce Great thing about dim sum, you never have to rush or worry about noisy kids.

First time for us in Irish Heather is during the whiskey cheese sampling. I was blown away by the hot-toddie (spelling?) not to mention all the delicious cheese from Salty Tongue and whiskey of course. Totally love the cheese platter in the menu. Sooooo good!!! Honestly I was a little intimidated by the atmosphere at first because in my mind, "pub" is associated with "drunkards with red noses" However, the 2nd time we're there, I had a great time lounging in the "hip" back room that resembles a green room. Curious to see the place during daylight. All in all, chimes in with Neil on this, IH is a FANTABULOUS hangout place!

Kirin in downtown Vancouver (on Alberni between Thurlow and Bute) made lots of EXCELLENT dimsum stuff. Although there are no "authentic" dimsum cart being pushed around, I say this place made the BEST sticky rice. The rice is tender, melt in your mouth, glistening with lots of good stuff and perfectly proportioned (more meats than rice) Also try the "Tan-Tan" noodle, thin hand made egg noodle in meat & peanut sauce. YUMMY...

It's located on Denman, right by the English Bay hotel if memory serves me correctly (and just imagine the "chairman" taking a bite out of the crispy pepper with his puckish glance) 2.
