  1. Yo, Pensage! From the free dictionary online: wizened - lean and wrinkled by shrinkage as from age or illness; "the old woman's shriveled skin"; "he looked shriveled and ill"; "a shrunken old man"; "a lanky scarecrow of a man with withered face and lantern jaws"-W.F.Starkie; "he did well despite his withered arm"; "a wizened little man with frizzy grey hair" Easy on the wizened stuff! While I take comfort in the "lean" part, I not at all pleased with the "wrinkled, shriveled, shrunken or ill aspects"! If you comprehended how much of my own meats and cheeses I consume, you would never use wizened as an adjective for me. Next time, please use far more accurate terms such as: handsome, intelligent, muscular, Greek God, male perfection, divine benefactor of all things wholesome and good, or some other low-key, yet descriptive word-smithing. I know enough to chalk this up as a simple, even if horrendous, error of judgment. However, to prove I'm not at all vengeful, why don't you come out to the farm and we can discuss how much of my products you should buy to make me feel better?
  2. Wistful sigh...there are many days I wish I could shut down, reinvent myself and, with what I've learned over the years, start all over...a WHOLE lot smarter. I wish Andrew and Sarah the absolute best... I think they're on to something!
  3. Hendricks Farms & Dairy’s biggest announcement of the year – to date! Remember, way back, when HF&D became the first Pennsylvania farm to win a Gold Medal at the US Cheese Championships? Remember when HF&D went on to become the first PA Farm to win a Blue Ribbon the American Cheese Society’s prestigious annual show? How about when HF&D became Pennsylvania’s first truly raw, totally grass-fed farmstead cheese operation? Surely we all remember the momentous occasion when HF&D became the first Farmstead Cheese operation in the USA to incorporate Free-Range Robotic Milking? Well, HF&D has, yet again, outdone itself; We proudly announce that we have become the first dairy in PA and the fifth in the nation to achieve the distinguished “Certified Humane Raised and Handled” label! Certified by the Humane Farm Animal Care Program, Hendricks Farms & Dairy raises the bar for food production. When you have a choice….CHOOSE HF&D!!! We want YOU to know the difference, and we’ll pull out all the stops to make it easy to see, taste and know, that Hendricks Farms & Dairy is totally committed to providing the safest, healthiest and tastiest foods ever, anywhere. 4. Hendricks Farms & Dairy would be delighted to bestow lavish cheesy goodness on all your friends in any corner of the USA. We will overnight our cheese wrapped well with ice packs. Cheese will arrive around 60 degrees which is right around the temp it ages at (58) so it should hold up well. www.hendricksfarmsanddairy.com or email; orders@hendricksfarmsanddairy.com Thanks for considering HF&D!
  5. WOW!!!! You are too kind. You are also exactly why we do this. Thanks! Come out and see us some time, the weather is great for a visit to the farm. See our new totally voluntary robotic milking system that lets the cows milk themselves. They love it!
  6. Thank God a few stalwarts remain….namely, Hendricks Farms & Dairy in Telford, PA..... Our Cow Pie is loosely based on Camembert and is totally raw, grassfed, farmstead and quite tasty too.
  7. We cordially invite you all to visit our new farm and cheesemaking facility. Our hours are Monday thru Friday 10 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 4 pm. Tours and samples always available. Special group tastings and tours upon request
  8. Yes, we can't decide if our cheese got them 3 bells instead of two, or three bells instead of four!?! All humor aside, we are happy to be a part of their success. As a matter of fact, we have the great pleasure of dining there tonight. Perhaps we can share some reflections tomorrow.
  9. Why do you want flatiron steaks? My butcher detests cutting them, say its a pain in the B__T and as its a shoulder cut, tends to be overrated. If your going to take the time to fire up the the grill, why not a ribeye? I'm just curious, do you want something different, or do you really like the flatiron? I've never had one, after talking to my butcher, I passed on the option, should I actually eat one first or does the butcher know best?
  10. Breaking News! Starting next week (maybe this weekend) a selection of our cheeses will be available a Di Bruno Bros on Chestnut St. Also next Friday 6/24 the cheesemaker will be at Di Bruno's over the lunch hour to talk cheese and hand out samples with reckless abandon. Thanks to all the kind words on this thread and a little publicity, we have an opportunity to introduce our cheese to Philadelphians. For those of you unable to visit the farm, this may be your next best option. If there are any questions or thoughts that we could weigh in on, please feel free to share. Also exciting, we just broke ground today on our new cheesemaking facility one mile from our current farm. If there is any interest in regular reports or dialogue regarding this undertaking we would be open to sharing. Thanks for all the support thus far, HF&D
  11. One of our cheese customers has given rave reviews on this 6 month old BYO. We are considering checking it out first hand, but as rarely as we get away without the kids, we would prefer a good experience!
  12. Perhaps just a little biased. But wouldn't it great to see & taste for yourself? We guarantee your satisfaction.
  13. Undoubtedly, the best grilling meats are to found at Hendricks Farms & Dairy, located in Telford, PA 30 minutes north of center city. As producers of grass-fed, beef, lamb, chicken and goat, they offer exciting options not to be found at your local grocer or specialty retailer. If you check out their website (www.hendricksfarmsanddairy.com ) {pathetic but undergoing a facelift} you can sign up for their weekly email which details the fresh meats of the week along with other goodies like artisanal award winning cheeses and more.
  14. Yes, after you pay your toll at Lansdale make a right onto route 63 and take 63 about 3 miles to route 113 and make a right onto 113. Go about 2 or so miles and make a left on Godshall Road and the farm is 1/2 mile on the left. If, due to construction, Godshall Road is closed go back one street and go north on Allentown road and pass the Franconia Park and Police station (1/2 mile up) and make an immediate right onto Indian Creek Road. Take that to Godshall and make a left (you'll see the farm on your left). The barn is about 3 feet off the road - big and brown. I think it is easier to back track to the Lansdale exchange again rather than go up to the Quakertown exit for the turnpike. There is too much traffic etc. Rachel
  15. Times change and so do cheese makers, perhaps it would be worth checking in on Hendricks Farms again. Our fresh raw milk cheese offerings have evolved to include 6 fresh or soft ripened cheeses and several variations on them including blues. Supplies of soft/fresh cheeses varies with ripening schedules so an email might be worth the time. When we open our new facility this July, our selections and availability will increase. As far as price goes, you pay for what you get. Our prices are based correctly, and we operate without any subsidies from the government (as opposed to many European cheeses). We are grass-fed, and organically managed. These practices come with a price. Our ever expanding customer base understands and appreciates what we do and what we stand for. Quality and substance over quantity and fads. We are preserving practices and craftsmanship that is also a for-profit family business. Thanks for your interest and you are ALL welcome to visit and sample at your leisure. By the way, don't judge a book by it's cover, our website needs (and is getting) a major make-over! Cheers
