  1. I would be an avocado. Get under my skin and I am soft and creamy. Treat my pit just right and I'll turn into a tree.
  2. When I'm home alone I will have microwaved popcorn. ice cream and maybe some toast with butter, peanut butter and jelly. I'm happy.
  3. What I'm loving now are spicy lollypops. Everyone else must love them too because the shelves are empty and have been since I bought my first (and only) bag about two months ago. I can find them on the web now but not in my grocery store. They are sweet, tart and have a nice hot finish.
  4. Back in east texas a long time ago we mixed cocoa and sugar and scooped it into our lower lip and played like it was snuff !! We didn't spit though, we swallowed.
  5. After reading some of these posts ya'll are makin' me miss my DOG !! I have to mop the floor more often now that he's gone.
  6. One of my children called Burger King Burgerdeath. Had a friend who said, "swimps" for shrimp and "candyams" for that those good ole' southern baked sweet potatoes mashed up and swimming in butter, raisens, sugar and topped off with marshmellows. Said she was "going to make groceries" when she went to the store. Our kids would then began to say this when they had to go to the bathroom! Lemingaide was another .. and gramaw would say "krep-a-lock" for kreploch.
  7. Speaking of Green Pee reminds me of a Boy Scout dinner we attended when my boys were small. I made a lovely sheet cake and made the icing (you guessed it!) bright Boy Scout blue. Later one of the boys went to the bathroom to make - ahem - what we called #2 (as opposed to #1 which is pee) It was bright blue.
  8. Eat Mores are now a Hershey Canada product so it's no wonder I haven't heard of them before. It's odd that the web site says they are the only Hershey Canada candy bar not coated in chocolate. Doesn't sound like what you ate... And from this page (see the third post) it sounds like they were a "garbage" candy...made from factory leftovers. Again...doesn't sound like your description. The mystery deepens... ← I can verify the "garbage" aspect. I worked at Hershey briefly and heard stories of the EatMore bar, made from mixed up bits of other candy that didn't form correctly. There was a guy who would ladel cherry syrup into each batch, tasting it until it was "right." ← Oh Great ! Well, it was East Texas and probably as good as it was going to get. Why didn't I prefer a Hershey Bar? I think it was because I got a lot more candy in that tube and I was a prudent shopper.
  9. Let's see if this counts. I was once looking at bananas at the local grocery store. Another woman was checking them out as well. I reached out to take a couple when WHAAAM !! She slapped my hand !! I was astonished, flabbergasted and afraid. I left the bananas and I left the store.

The mystery deepens... ← I lived deep in the heart of East Texas at the time so I can't imagine they were a Canadian product. The tube was dark brown - like the Hershey Bar .. so .. maybe we'll never know.
  11. Hey Toliver. I know they were not Flicks. I think they were called "Eatmores" but I'm not sure.
  12. Oh I love Milk Duds - and those pastel candy coated almonds. I am gonna break a tooth one of these days. Back in the day when we went to the "Picture Show" (the word "Film" had not been introduced) I always got these chocolate kisses in a dark brown cardboard tube. Can't remember the name now. By the time the movie ended the tube was all mooshed because I'd up-end it and put these deliciously sweet morsals into my mouth, one by one. By the time the show was over the candy was gone and I chewed on the cardboard container as we walked back home.

    Angel Biscuits

My daughter in law makes angel bisquits every thanksgiving. All of the grandchildren gather around the table with the uncooked biscuits and dip each one into a bowl of melted butter before placing them on a cookie sheet. They remind me of the lady getting the manicure in that old tv commercial. Her hand is soaking in a small bowl and asks what's in it. The manicurist says "Palmolive Liquid. You're soaking in it!" The biscuits come out of the oven lightly browned and they just melt in your mouth. She has been making them faithfully for twenty five years now but when she started out she tried making them with some sort of fake salt - I forget the name of the product. They tasted foul. Since then she makes them the old fashioned way with plenty of butter and plenty of salt.
  14. I rely heavily on the basil, garlic, olive oil and tomatos in the can. I put it in anything that I make calling for tomato sauce. I don't mess about much with soaking beans either. I just rinse the canned ones and get on with it.
