Krua Thai on the 1400 block is pretty good, it's not the place across from London Drugs which I have never been to.

Brioche on Cordova is good for breakfast and lunch. They have fantastic deserts too.

It is a mighty tasty burger. Now if only I had a beverage to wash it down with.

A couple of years ago I was there with a group of friends, the actual meal went rather well. Service wasn't outstanding but it wasn't bad. Trouble is when it came time to pay we found out that the didn't take interac. Not a big deal, an inconvenience yes but we shouldn't have assumed that they would take it. We were directed to a cash machine near by. When I got back with cash I went to pay our bill, while I forget the exact amount it was just over a multiple of twenty with tip. Our server took the money only to come back and explain that she wouldn't be able to give us change. Needless to say we flabbergasted. Did they really not have fifteen dollars lying around? Upon announcing this our server just walked off and ignored us. A friend went off and bought some gum across the street and came back with the exact change for our bill. We go to Lombardo's now.

So I was in the Les Amis at Park Royal and they had cards announcing the (impending?) opening of Cote Mer, Alain Rayé's, of La Regalade, new restaurant. Needless to say I am very excited. I've since lost the card but I seem to remember it saying that they would be located on Marine Drive across from Thunder Bird Marina in West Van.

Ketchup, cream, hot water, salt and pepper to taste and a cup, all free at mid-station, and if your hungry enough, a mighty fine cream of tomato soup.

Has any one tried Citadelle's <a href="http://mapledelights.com//content/en-US/fiche_produit.aspx?ProductID=25">vintage maple syrup</a>? I can't help but feel that it’s something dreamed up by marketing.

Valrhona Guanaja bought in bulk at Whole Foods. White Toblerones are also pretty tasty.

I'll second George's in Lonsdale Quay. He use to put on a big show of making them with all sorts of yelling and hollering, shocked the tourists, though some stayed and watched. I haven’t seen him there in a while though, he may have retired.

One thing I've found is that torches with a head set a right angle, like <a href="http://www.bernzomatic.com/bernzomatic/consumer/jhtml/detail.jhtml?prodId=BernzoProd100003">this one,</a> are a lot easier to use then the traditional head. The 90 degree angle means that one does not have to hold the fuel cylinder at weird angles when engaged in torching things.

A few weeks ago I was having dinner at <a href="http://www.laregalade.com/">La Regalade</a> in West Vancouver, another suburb of Vancouver, when low and behold my prime rib came with two lovely pieces of marrow. I could only express puzzlement bordering on delight; this had not being on the menu, if it had I might have been saved valuable minutes of deliberation when selecting my main. Never the less, it was a good thing and a delightful meal.

I'm a big fan of Krua Thai in North Van. They've great curries and the Poh Teun, a sort of sea food medley served on a sizzle plate, is fantastic.

<a href="http://www.thomashaas.com">Thomas Haas</a> has the best Stollen I've had. They're not on his online store yet but I imagine they will be soon.
