  1. I was curious to see if a reservation was available for tonight so I checked out OpenTable. Lots of choice times available. Can't remember ever being able to get into Lumiere on a Saturday evening without having reserved 2 weeks prior. Must have had a deluge of cancellations when the froie gras hit the fan.
  2. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I read this thread yesterday morning and was at at Abdul's BBQ in the afternoon. The falafel was amazing! As mentioned it took 10 minutes to fry up the plump, crispy, tender falafel balls to perfection. This was a two handed wrap loaded with crisp lettuce, tomatoes and all the regular suspects. This could become an obsession.
  3. The Japanese family who owned and operated Kokoro sold the restaurant about 2 years ago. It was without a doubt the best sushi place on the North Shore! We gave the new Chinese owners one shot and were very disappointed! I would run not walk away from this place.
  4. La Grotta Del Formaggio, 1791 Commercial Drive (at 2nd), has great grilled sandwiches that are made to order. Basically take-out unless you can snag one of the three tables out front. Don't forget to pop into Fratelli Italian Bakery which is next door for a little something to get you through the day.
  5. You know what would be great to see? The Marcello's sign coming down and replaced with one that reads Lombardo's. To the Victor goes the spoils!!! For the Judge to be that pissed he must have eaten at Marcello's.
  6. Thank you for all your suggestions. Is there anything you guys don't know? How about where to find eye-of-newt?
  7. Where can I find mushroom ketchup? My Mother-in -Law made Tourtiere on Christmas Eve and served it with some Mushroom Ketchup that she brought back from Scotland. Amazing stuff, may need a twelve-steep program.
  8. I admit I still occasionally go, its like a stress test for me! However, I have a new system, I will order two beers at the same time so my pizza and beer ratio works out. Previously, my second beer would arrive around the time I hit the second narrows bridge.
  9. The fish monger in Lonsdale Quay always works for me! His stuff is always fresh and the selection varied.
  10. Signs are up indicating that Red Burrito is moving into the Lonsdale location vacated recently by Steam Rollers.
  11. Furry Creek Golf & Country Clubs Sea to Sky Grill has always been good. On Highway 99, you will pass through Lions Bay and Porteau Cove. The next stop is the Oceanside Community of Furry Creek. From Lions Bay, the drive is about 10 minutes. Follow signs to club house.
  12. I think its Ocean Club in West Vancouver! THE OCEAN CLUB 100 Park Royal (south mall). 604-926-2326. Open 7 days a week . Bar, from 4 p.m.; dining menu, from 5 p.m. to closing (as late as 3 a.m.).
  13. Thank you all for your recommendations. I have begun the input process on CellarTracker.com. It is a GREAT resource! Bonus, I get to save the $100 that the "uncorked cellar" software would have cost! I think I should have you all to my home for a glass of something red.
  14. I would like to organize my cellar with one of the multitude of software solutions that are available. I have read good things about "The Uncorked Cellar" is anyone using this program? It has a built-in database that is up-datable online, which I thought would be handy. What other programs are people using to organize their home cellars? Looking forward to your suggestions.
  15. You can get them at the restaurant supply store on Hastings St. I don't know the address but it is on the south side of Hastings across from the Astoria Hotel.
  16. Luc Bergeron's Organic pure maple syrup from Quebec. Sometimes its available at Granville Island from one of the table vendors. Also; available at Whole Foods in West Van. My favorite is the Canada no. 3 dark, not recommended for beginners though!
  17. There is a new Thai restaurant that opened a few months ago called Thai Yala at 1925 Lonsdale. The place is Thai owned and operated, which is a must if you want the real deal! I have been twice and have yet to be disappointed. The green curry with chicken is great and so was their Pad Thai and fried rice. I'm not a fan of Krua.
