  1. Bryan, the name of the bistro by the Pop's folks is Rue Cler (http://www.ruecler.blogspot.com). It's scheduled to open in early October at 401 E. Chapel Hill Street in downtown Durham.
  2. I"ll second the vote for Vin Rouge. Too bad the timing and location aren't right. On the other hand, Porter's Tavern on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh is open for lunch. And they serve a mac and cheese made with blue cheese and white American cheese. It may not be what you have in mind, but it's very good.
  3. Thanks, all. I look forward to, um, chewing the fat with you.
  4. Sorry for the slow response. I had to register as a participating member before replying. (Yes, I've been lurking as a guest for a long time now. Guess it's time for me to come out and join the discussion.) I had planned on writing about the BLT at Merritt's for a long time, and had included it on an advance list of subjects for my Taste This! column that I'd submitted to my editor several weeks ago. Imagine my surprise when, a few days before the article appeared, you guys began raving about the very same subject. Guess great minds (or is that bellies?) think alike.
