  1. Jim Beam sold the rights to Pussers last year, It is now imported by Shaw Ross who is owned by Southern Wines & Spirits. I was told that by thier local rep that they are still making the decanters and they will be available again very soon. It would take a few months while the changes took effect. The decanters are already in thier new catalog without prices though.
  2. Someone email me a notice about Caribbean Rum Fest 2004 and I accidently deleted it. Anyone have any info on it? I think Ed Hamilton was a guest speaker? Thanks
  3. A couple of years ago, a small amount of the British Royal Flagons were released to the public. Check out this link. I am not sure that this is the same thing you are talking about http://www.greatspirits.com/brnir/index.html
  4. Appleton won't be sold in the US. They bottled it in 700ml decanters and that size happens to be illegal in the US.
  5. It used to be dark. Bishop Brands bought the company about 3 years ago and changed the bottles (and the product). It has since been bought by Heaven Hill (a big Bourbon producer) about 3 omnths ago, and I imagine it will be changed once again.
  6. I went to the Dominican Rep for vacation this summer and it was in our room's mini bar. Actually it was a full bottle with a spigot. It was really good. I was surprised how tasty it was. Excellent value. We used it for mixing primarily but I had a couple of straights and I have no bed comments about it. Not too sweet, caramelly, but still it had full round flavors, and a nice palate.
  7. We also got the rum in our store. It is made by RL Seales and it is a 10 year old. Our store tasting is Saturday. I actually think it should be pretty good. It is imported by Sidney Frank,( they also do Grey goose and a few other items) He sell good products but he is not afraid to charge alot of money for them.
  8. I just got an offering from my supplier for Appleton 21. I have never tried it but I always see it mentioned on the forum. Any feedback? It seems a little expensive (retail about $70). I guess they are going to make it real scarce, I was told only about 400 6 packs this year came into the US.
  9. If anyone happens to be in the St. Louis area on Oct 19 with nothing to do; we are having a huge tasting (over 300 items) at our store. Some of the Rums that will be there are Pyrat Cask 23, Pyrat XO, Zacapa Centennario, St. James Extra Old, St. James Amber, Mt Gay XO, Bacardi Ciclon, Don Lorenzo Mango, and Zaya. I am working on some others, but they are not definite yet. I can get any forum members free tickets as long as they don’t go to waste. Please contact me through my email if you are interested
  10. I was wondering what everyone's favorite rum was? How about a 2 part answer. The provebial: You could bring only 1 bottle to a desert island, cost is no factor. and What do you normally drink? I have to say Zacapa Centennario on both.
  11. Not trying to sell it but It is worth every penny. I have tried it about 5 or 6 times and it is amazing. It is definitely a special occasion rum. the nose fills up a room. It is smooth as silk with this amazing caramel and fruit finish. It would be like the Pyrat XO on steriods, if you have ever tasted that. You really don't need to drink it, just smell it all night.
  12. I can help on the Riserva Anejo. It is a new rum. Just in the states for about 6 months. It is imported by the David Sherman Corp in St. Louis. I was given a product sell sheet and promptly lost it but I thought that it was a 8 year old. They did not state who distilled it, I think they want to build a brand name rather than the distillery name in case they ever have to move it or sell the label. Much like many tequilas.
  13. The real reason it is so hard to find is the antiquated liquor laws in the US. It changed importers about 1 year ago so there was a slight stoppage in availability but it is still available. The way the liquor laws work, its that someone imports it, and then they sell it to distributors in each state, and then the distributors sell it to retailers. The big problem comes from the statewide distributors who would rather sell pallets of the bacardi swill than great rumslike Zacapa. Retailers must buy from the distrubutors in their state so they have no supply. Most distibutors will not special order a case for a retailer because of the shipping cost, paperwork involved, or some other ridiculous reason The Zacapa XO is due to be available around October. It is currently only sold in 700ml. bottles which are illegal in the US. They are working on a 750ml bottle design for the US market and that was a estimated target date with a retail price of about $75-$80 per bottle. I sell lots of the centennario at my store, it is one of the best rums I have ever tasted, but I can't imagine that the XO would be so much better for almost double the price.
  14. I put the list of rums we carry at http://www.geocities.com/liquorman63119/rum_list.htm I should say I am in the US so I can't do Cuban Rums (at least sell them, I still can drink them).
  15. I run a internet site that carries lots (200+) of rums . I am not going to mention it (this is not a advertising post). I am looking for some suggestions for rums that I should search out and try to get to further my selection. Who better to get input from than a bunch of actual consumers?
