  1. I would be interested in participating in the get together also if y'all don't mind.
  2. Nonbei is my favorite izakaya in hawaii. I have gone to Imanas, but I only ate at the sushi bar, I need to go and try their regular menu. I have gone to Izakaya Nagisa-Tei a couple times (twice when the first opened and once more recently) and they aren't that good anymore. One the ambience isn't that great. Two while their service was not bad earlier on, when I went recently it wasn't so good. I will have to try that Hanagasa Inn place. I love Orion beer and I love rafute. I got a GC for Momomo for my bday so I will be visiting there soon also. I did a blog post on Shokudo which is somewhat of a nouveau ameri-japan izakaya. You can check it out here.
  3. Back when I used to stay out late (late being relative, my definition is after midnight) my friends and I would often be hungry at the end of the night. We often would go to Like Like Drive-inn, Liliha Bakery, Sorabol, Millions, Eggs'n Things, Wailana Coffee House and if we were up late enough we would go to Mitsuba or Mitsuken. Out of these my favorites are Liliha Bakery, Eggs'n Things and Mitsuba/Mitsuken. Liliha bakery has such character. I love seeing my food grilled right in front of me. Eggs'n Things has great breakfast food. Mitsuken has that awesome $2 breakfast special. Btw please don't mention Jippy's as I really dislike the whole chain.
  4. Hi. First post in the Japan section. I just recently updated my food blog with some pictures from an izakaya that I frequent when I visit Japan. The link is in my signature. Torakris, What area of Yokohama are you from? Perhaps we can meet up next time I am in Japan along with anyone else here that is in the area.
  5. One there is no "absolute best" restaurant. That's like asking which genre of music is the "absolute best" Like glossyp said ask yourself what kind of food you folks would like to eat. PakePorkChop posted some really good restaurants. I'd like to add The Bistro @ Century Center and also Michels @ The Colony Surf. If you choose from any of the mentioned choices you will end up with a winner. Just make sure you order alot and share alot. It's the best way to experience what a restaurant has to offer.
  6. Reid, Congrats on the nominations. Good luck to you and Chika. Keep up the great work.
  7. Something from http://www.bigislandcandies.com/ ?
  8. Hi folks, First post here. Been reading Reid's site and others along with the forums here and that has motivated me to finally start my own blog. http://nattokun.blogspot.com/ Hope y'all enjoy. Jupiter
