  1. Well, I'm leaning towards menu 2 simply because it sounds more 'festive'... Of course, it depends on who caters...
  2. Good morning Maggie and Cashew! Looking forward to your blog! Have fun this week!!!
  3. Oh, what a blog, Chris. This has been a fun, fun week!! Thank you for introducing us to your corner of the world and also for inviting us in your kitchen!! You'll welcome the down time this week, I'm sure!
  4. Perhaps you could borrow the book from your local library until your copy arrives?
  5. Hé, judiu, lately, it seems to be the two of us... Here goes: The Cooking of Southwest France, Paula Wolfert - Oh wow!!!! The Best Recipes in the Workld, Mark Bittman; well, we'll see if that's true but I do love his How to Cook Everything, and you do get a lot of recipes for your money...
  6. Oh Chris, what a wonderful tour! I went through those pics three times and was in awe! BTW, Bébé is just too cute!
  7. Another one for me...The Cannery Seafood House Cookbook, by Frédéric Couton...
  8. Nice, nice toy Gourmande. You won't regret your purchase!
  9. Oh...another one...River Café Two Easy. I don't think I mentionned this one... Chris is right... and under the bed, and piled near the guest bed as a night table, etc. etc...
  10. Andy, Quelle belle plume! A true delight! Safran
  11. Seven more for me!!! True Blueberry by Linda Dannenberg, Berry Bible by Janie Hibler (it IS berry season, no?) , Classic Food of Northern Italy by Anna Del Conte In French: Gastronomie et forêt , Ma Cuisine par Gérard Depardieu, Le Canard de Julie; Canadian: Marion Kane's Dish (great read!!) This should keep me busy!!
  12. Caplan Duval will be carrying Staub if they don't already...Côte des Neiges, I think, www.caplanduval.com
  13. Your kitchen may be gorgeous, but it's your family that take one's breath away! Thank you so much for this blog! Wow!
  14. Two more for me: The Chez Piggy Cookbook from that wonderful restaurant in Kingston, Ontario and, hot off the press, the May Court Club of Ottawa Menu Cookbook.... The proceeds from the salle of this cookbook go towards a program that provides healthy snacks for hungry children in Ottawa area schools....
  15. Oh my! It's 44 degrees C here with the humidex. That lemon sorbet looks DEVINE!
  16. Lisa, the doufeu, as in doux = soft, feu = fire or in this case, heat, has been around for quite some time, but carried the name Cousances. I have two (approx. 30 years old), have used them a LOT, and quite like them. Actually, they both look almost new. I use ice when I braise stove-top and I put water in the depression when I use the doufeu in the oven. It works extremely well, better, in fact than my regular Le Creuset but I have not yet compared it to Staub. So, you say you can get one for a good price? Grab it.
  17. arbuclo, Saskatoon berries are God's gift this area of Canada. When I first moved out west I was given some and couldn't quite believe the taste: a cross between a cherry and , hum, fill in the blanks..... They are WONDERFUL!!! And I miss this fruit so much now that I'm back in Ottawa. Cool cool blog, Chromedome.
  18. Hi jackieg, and welcome! Hum...shopping for cookbooks at antique stores. Yes, you definitely belong here!
  19. Marlene, Sam, what a wonderful, wonderful blog! Thank you for inviting us into your kitchens and into your lives this past week. Yes Sam, I WILL grind my own from now on... Marlene, I know for a fact I'll never be able to keep up to you. Your energy level is fabulous. And what you did with the surprise basket was indeed a work of art. All that work!!! You must both be so happy it's over! Thanks to both of you!
  20. Sam, time to mix some of those drinks that make one feel fuzzy and warm. Get well soon! Marlene, you were awfully perky today for a woman who threw a housewarming bash the night before...I'd still be under the covers... Looking forward to tonight's pictures!
  21. Oh! Wow!!! "Simple" says Sam...Delightful, I'd say!!! Marlene, I need a new dress size just READING this! Congrats on the new Whole Foods, btw. Yes, the prices are up there but it's so nice to have a choice. You mentionned paper bags; for Christmas I received a gorgeous Whole Foods canvas bag - a BIG one like I'd never seen before, and sturdy like I can't believe.
