  1. As far as organic/natural foods Wild Oats just opened in Tampa on Dale Mabry. Not sure where in St. Pete you're located but there's also a Whole Foods in Sarasota. What I truly miss (I've been down here a year. Moved from Chicago) is Trader Joe's. Although someone on these boards heard they were opening a distribution center in Atlanta to pave the way for opening more stores in the South. Here's hoping. Publix seems to be the best grocery store around; good selection, great customer service. Although the new Sweetbays (Kash and Karry conversion) are also very nice with a good butcher case. There's also a Fresh Market in Clearwater on US19. Smaller grocery store carrying gourmet food, cheeses, meats and nice bakery. I don't know if there's one closer to St. Pete. Surf and Turf market in Palm Harbor has an excellent selection of meats, they even carry some prime cuts. Nice gourmet selection and well-priced wines. The Oldsmar Flea Market has a truck that sells great seafood at excellent prices. It was the first time I've bought shrimp with the heads still on and they are probably some of the best shrimp I have ever had. There's also a large vegetable stand there to with very good prices. PM me if you need any more info. Hope this helps and welcome to Florida. Love the winters, hate the summers and hurricane season! Donna
  2. Okay, I've read all ( I hope) the threads on pepper mills and I'm ready to invest in either a Peppergun, Magnum or Magnum Plus. The mini-grinder is a given; gotta' get it. So I have some questions for the experts here: Peppergun: like the idea of one-hand grinding but is the mechanism as finely tuned as the Magnum? I want fine ground to au poivre (if I can get that). Magnum: this would seem to be my first choice since the capacity is smaller and it's not such a behemoth sitting on my counter. Magnum Plus: this is the one you all are raving about. is there a difference between this one and the Magnum? And finally on salt mills..I love Maldon sea salt but there are time that I want a finer grind. Can you recommend any of the Unicorn mills for this purpoe? Or do I go elsewhere? FWIW-I will probably use the large tellicheery peppers in the mill. Have yet to order them from Penzey's but my catalog just came today! Been pretty darn happy with McCormick whole peppercorns, though.
  3. Wavy Lays dipped in cottage cheese. Gibbles potato chips. MMMM, lard. Tuna sandwich with potato chips smushed between the the bread and tuna. Noodles and scrambled eggs. Stouffers Mac and Cheese cooked to oblivion so that it's almost dry. Tuna noodle casserole with potato chips on top.
