  1. Speaking of wax, I remember a wax harmonica, orange in color if not flavor I do believe.
  2. Two of my favorites: Cherry Mash with the vibrant red cherry filling and milk chocolate outside... also, loved cherry lipstick. Individually wrapped in foil except the last 1/2 inch to resemble a lipstick without cap. The chalky lipstick had a unique cherry flavor.
  3. For all intents, the new Wegman's is in Moorestown...which was recently voted the best town to live in in the entire USA...and that's Moorestown, not Morristown....and with residents including the Eagles' McNabb, Owens, etc there's plenty of $bling$ down here in the "slums" to keep a grocery store like Wegman's in tall cotton... sorry if I sound like a south Jersey snob....
  4. It's been a while so I don't know if they're still even around, but a little mom and pop Italian restaurant (up on the hill as I recall) had the best meatballs and red sauce that I ever had, including Philly and NY/NJ best....!
  5. Has anyone tried backpacker's filters and purifiers? I just got a Miox purifier that uses rock salt and electricity to produce a chlorine solution...tried it on my tap water and as one would expect, it made the chlorine taste even more pronounced... hopefully would work better on water from lakes, streams, etc. I'd like to find a way to make my tap water more tasteful and help me kick the bottled water (Poland Spring, Fiji, and Volvic) habit..perhaps a Brita might be a better solution.
  6. Ming Tsai often mentions a particular type of rice as "the best there is". Unfortunately I don't know how to spell it, but if I heard it I'd recognize the name...and he swears by using a rice cooker to make any and all rice....
  7. Questions: what's your favorite bottled water? is it worth it? Mine: Volvic Fiji definitely worth it and can definitely tell the difference in taste over tap.
  8. A week too late. They were serving these at the Meadowlands Fair, but sadly the fair is over until next year. My friend got one, but I passed. It looked like a huge cube of mozzarella ( I guess it could have been cheddar or a mixture) in some type of batter. He enjoyed it. I don't know where else you could find these, but you can always try the fair next year! ← good to know that at least they're in NJ even if only "seasonally"...can't believe that they're not more popular here tho'...I think a well deserved addition to the menus of the many hot dog meccas in the Garden State...
  9. my 2cts: if the "B" in BLT isn't Nueske's then you're starting off with two strikes against you .. absolutely the best bacon in the world and the deep smokey flavor and meatiness is what makes a BLT in my mind... go easy on the mayo, get crisp, fresh lettuce (I like iceberg or redleaf), a good NJ "better boy" tomato fresh from the garden and you're in heaven... bread? just a vehicle for the rest, so white wonder if fine for me...toasted of course... virg
  10. I'm looking for something that is fairly common on the Left coast and at mid-western state fairs but not so here in the East... Cheese on a stick.. like hot dog on a stick but a stick of butter size hunk of cheddar dipped in a hot dog type batter and deep fried...with yellow mustard...delicious... now if I could only find some on the East coast...any help out there?

    Pistachios

Don't want to grow 'em, don't want to dry 'em, don't want to brine 'em... just want to buy roasted and salted Iranian pistachios in the US and eat 'em! who do I call? virg
  12. I love pistachios but just can't get into Californian as they have no taste compared to Iranian. Any suggested sources for Iranian pistachios? I know about Turkish which are good but still not the same as Iranian. Roasted and salted is what I'm looking for. I heard even though the US embargo on Iranian products was lifted 4 or 5 years ago, the tariff remains on pistachios for one and thus make them very difficult/expensive to get in the US.
