Wow. I'm kind of surprised there is so much negativity directed towards Penelope Corcoran. I've always found her food contributions (whether reviews or other information) to be helpful and written well, even when I didn't end up agreeing with her. The column linked to at the beginning of this thread didn't seem like that big of a deal to me - certainly not worth getting upset about. I wish her the best and am interested to see what the PI does to take her place.

Well, we all might be over-estimating the church concept in this particular situation. This isn't exactly a quaint church...it's this building with a plain white front and a big glass-block-ish cross embedded in the front of the building. From the outside, it's got nothing like the cool factor of Chapel. Maybe the inside is cool, though...I haven't seen it.

There's a new space available in Columbia City right next to Jones' Barbecue. It used to be a church, but they've got a sign saying it's available for lease for commercial or restaurant space. Columbia City restaurants appear to be doing well - and we've got the Columbia City Bakery coming in this summer!

Hrm...I was there on Friday for lunch with a friend and we didn't find the tables/chairs to be mismatched. The place is small, but we had plenty of room and didn't feel like we were crowded with other diners. It's just very clear that it's not a place to go with a crowd or if you don't have reservations. I love the service there, agree completely about the ingredients. Also agree about the chocolate pot de creme, but I love those cookies they stick in it!
