  1. We had a peruvian cook who was fantastic, and when she left we found el chevere in passaic,it has become a staple in our restaurant circuit it is wonderful authentic and cheap
  2. I second that opinion. El Chevere has some of the best Peruvian food around. I find the original location (on Monroe street) to be a little better, but they are both good. I would also recommend their deep fried pork chops covered in thinly sliced garlic and cilantro/pork gravy. ←
  3. based on the egullet four of us went to roccas last night. our overall impresstion was excellant . it is tough to judge a new place on a saturday night but the food with two small exceptions was creative well executed and exciting.as recommened ihad the sicilian calamari which was terrific. the lemon cannoli for dessert blew me away.she who must be obeyed had the veal with porcini mushrooms which i tasted it was grilled and sophisticated-very good. we thought the cold antipasto served family stlye presented more as a salad than antipasto we said so to our server and the owner came right over listened to our criticism and comped us a supurb crap cake starter-classy and appreciated on a busy sat. night. we look forward to going back and were very impressed with the caring owner/chef.
  4. based on the times review we went to relish two weeks ago.the food was very good and some selections were fantatic.in the last category were astonding lightly battered squash flowers filled with ricotta and mozzerla drissled with a basil based oil.the sqash tasted as if it was picked off the vine minutes before it was served. the grlled octupus rubbed with latin spices was imaginative and beautifully presented.our server was very helpful and attentive and with patience deconstucted every item on the menu for my very undecided wife .the vibe in the place is very warm and personal, we will definatly go back.
