  1. We have a similar request. I am taking my parents & sister & our partners over for significant birthdays that weekend. I had hoped to go to L'Os a Moelle for the Saturday night but it is closed, as is Stephane Martin, a suggestion from a friend. Does anyone know of anywhere open of a similar style? Bistro Paul Bert does appear to be open that weekend, but isn't taking reservations for another 2 weeks.
  2. Based on this, we're going tonight. Will report back!
  3. Thanks for all the tips, both in Brandon and around. I'll let you know our experiences.
  4. We're heading up to Vermont shortly for the weekend, staying in Brandon. From what I've read on here, views on the dining scene are decidedly mixed. Can anyone offer some advice on the best place for a romantic dinner, that won't be too much of a drive away? Thanks.
  5. Given that we seem to have some meat experts on here, does anyone know anywhere in the north NJ area that I could buy a loin of pork with the skin on (the way us British cook it!) or for that matter strips of belly pork? I keep coming up blank and the only place I've found to date is by mail order (www.britishbacon.com). Also, what about getting bones for making beef stock? Any advice would be much appreciated.
  6. I'm also new to Montclair, so appreciate all the suggestions. In the few weeks we've been here, we've tried Aozora (excellent), Thai Chef (maybe an off night, but not great), Taj Palace (good Indian) and the deli opposite Whole Foods, which had a fantastic ham & mozzarella sandwich. I wish I was back from work early enough to visit that deli more often! We're going to Fascino on Friday, so looking forward to that. Am I right in thinking it is BYOB? If so, any suggestions for what sort of wine would be most suitable for the food?
  7. We'll be travelling to a wedding near Albi next week. We're picking up a hire car in Bordeaux, have one night before the wedding, then have 3 nights before returning to Bordeaux. We don't want to break the bank, so Michel Guerard's place is probably out of the equation :( I find the Logis de France guide quite reliable on the most part, but would appreciate any personal suggestions for places to visit in the area. Last time I was over, I ate at the Auberge des Arbousiers (sp?) in Homps, sitting next to the Canal du Midi, and had a wonderful meal. Thanks for any help.
