  1. Here ya go, Smithy:

Poach 3 chicken breasts...cool and shred. Half three-four avocados, remove the pit, gently scoop out some pulp from the middle to make the hole large, and peel. Dust the halves with flour and wrap in Saran. Put them into the freezer for 1 1/ 2 - 2 . hours. This will keep the avocado from going mushy when they are deep fried. Mix shredded chicken with fajita seasoning (to taste) and shredded cheese ( I used Habanero Tex-Mex by Kraft) Put two halves together, press gently and re-wrap in Saran until you're ready to deep fry.

Heat about 4" oil on med. high ( I used my wok) Dip avocado in beaten egg, roll in med-fine Panko crumbs, dip into egg and roll in crumbs again- total of three times for thick coating.  Pat gently to make sure the halves stay together, then lower carefully into hot oil. Turn and brown all sides. Great eaten with shredded lettuce, tomato, and salsa. ENJOY!

Too bad they didn't have that when I went to A&M.

  2. Thanks, I'll have to check it out.

I heard on the radio that the grand opening is today.

    edited to add link

Whole Foods will open first, with a Middle Eastern food stand, to boot. I've started a blog about food shopping that you might want to check out:

From Fairway's website March 2009.  See the right side of the page 3rd banner down.

Tour of Paramus Fairway from the same site.

  3. On "Food Talk" on WOR Radio back in mid August Michael Colameco was interviewing Steve Jenkins from Fairway and he said they hope to open a New Jersey location by the first of the year. Show aired on 08/18/08 and should be available for Podcast.

    Edited for Steve Jenkins' name.

    Edit

Off subject slightly. I just listened to the Podcast and Steve Jenkins said they would be opening in Paramus around the first of the year and that they would be adding stores in Pelham and Queens as well.

  4. Bryan - just saw the Today show spot!  Fantastic!  I am at work and was very proud to say I 'knew' you!  Congratulations - your food looked glorious!

    Brian,

I too just saw the Today segment. Good job!!

  5. Actually Markt serves Stoofvlees at lunch with frites. I lived in the Netherlands for 4 years and don't recall seeing frites with stoofvlees. I had stoofvlees as an entree. Of course, it doesn't mean it didn't exits, just that I never had the pleasure of having had it. Sounds good though. Good luck with your search.

  6. I remember reading an article in the Record that this is A&P's newstore design. They have the same concept in Allendale and Midland Park. They are trying to be more of a grab and go specialty kind of store and are leaving the big store concept to Shop Rite and Pathmark. The one in Allendale was fairly nice at first but lately they seem to be running out of a lot of weekly special things and the quality, in my opinion, isn't any better than it used to be.

  7. Thanks Octaveman. I was going to use those red peppers but my mom also wanted to make the dish and didn't want the dish as spicy and was only going to use a pinch of the crushed red pepper.

edit I use the Koon Chun brand of bean sauce as well.
