    Bolo

I have never been a big Bobby Flay fan, either on tv or at Mesa. Don't get me wrong, I found the food very good and his choice of high quality ingredients always interesting. I never liked Bolo the few times I had been there and hated his uptown restaurant. Having said that, my wife and I were invited to Bolo by another couple. I was not looking forward to it. Boy, was I suprised. In the past, I found the menu at Bolo to be lacking in imagination, but the revamped menu was fantastic. We orded six different appetizers and each was delicious. The grilled octopus was on par with some of the best examples from my travels through Portugal and Greece. I ordered the grilled rabbit wrapped in serrano ham. I recommend it to anyone who loves either ingredient. The staff was highly professional. Even though it was crowded, we were not rushed. Whatever you think of Bobby, good food is good food, and Bolo was one of the best dinner experiences I have had in long time.
  2. Let me begin my discussion on Luger's with the statement that I am the fourth generation in my family to eat at Luger's regularly. My grandfather had a factory around the corner. My parents announced their engagement there. And I love the steak and don't mind the ritual in the evening. I have to say I agree with much of what fat-guy said about lunch at Luger's. One can say it's almost relaxing. I do not agree on your comment on the bacon. I find the bacon delicious and have been eating it in front of my family who gave up pork, shellfish, and cheese on their hamburgers years ago. It is thick charred and just the right fat content. Try it again. One other thing, I agreek the Williamsburg Bridge sucks. Take the L, stop at Planet Thailand for great pad see ew, and walk. It's much more enjoyable.
  3. You're a lucky man. I work in Birmingham, Al. but live in NYC. There are two great restaurants in this town that I would love to have in NYC. The first is the Hot and Hot Fish Club that has an unbelieveable food bar that overlooks the kitchen. There is also a restuarant called Highland Bar and Grill with Frank Snitt as the chef. Both of these restaurants have some of the best American food I've had. Have fun
