  1. Fior's Saturday sandwich special in Hoboken.... roast beef (cooked same day), fresh mozz (in house, almost made to order when it's busy) and ju on an outstanding italian bread. doesn't get any better.
  2. I hit up Momofuku Noodle Bar last week. loved the "signiture" ramen ehich had veg, shredded pork and pork-belly. outstanding. the broth was killer, very rich chicken based. The place is very low key, sort of like an upscale japanese diner... everything is more or less counter seating. Everything I saw leaving the kitchen looked great, good quality ingredients, it seemed. check it out...
  3. Any chance you have last weeks available, Soba? I made the grilled shrimp recipe last weekend, loved it, but can't find it on the site (their search stinks). Pretty sure I have it memorized, but wanted to make sure. For those who didn't see it, it's a buttermilk marinade with ginger/garlic/jolepeno(I threw in lemon basil and shallot as well), skewered with mango and finished with lime. a great summer app.

"Remember St. Mark's Pizza? Dirty, dark, dingy, service with an attitude. Good riddance. " for some reason that's not what I remember about SMP... I just fondly remember the slice, which I miss. dark? really? dingy? no more dingy then half the street slices in the city (Joe's for instance, even dirtier/dingier). Dirty? prep surfaced always looked clean to me, that's all I care about...
  5. Is Esposoto's Brother related in any way to the Esposito's that used to be in Madison (which was an excellent butcher as well)? I heard quite the sordid story as to why that place closed...
  6. Kitchen Cafe by Exchange Place (Sussex & Greene) is great for dinner, but i don't believe they serve booze. Lampost is a bit further back and pretty good pub-grub. JC is all what you make of it... there's some pretty good resteraunts/bars that are certainly worth supporting.
  7. .... and there is a Whole Foods on Main Street in Madison, which people seem to like.
  8. There is a butcher/Pork Store in New Providence that I believe is named "Barth's", but I am not possitive (my folks go there more then me). Can't recall ever getting anything that wasn't of excellent quality there (lamb/beef/pork/etc...). Happy Hunting!
  9. i just see mention of the offer off of that link, do you have a link to the offer itself? the resteraunt in the Hyatt is pretty good... would concider Kitchen Cafe as a lunch option if you are in that are. Closer to grove, Madame Claude's and Marco & Pepe are great dinner options.
  10. I'm a McHale's guy... also give Molly's a high mark.
  11. Three Philosophers CASK at Brazen Head this weekend. They will be serving up each of the following casks Sat & Sunday (....enough to make a grown beer-lover cry): Ommegan's 3 Philosophers Stoudts Fat Dog Stout Greenpoint's Barley Wine Heavyweight's 1 Off ? Victory Storm King Blue Point's Double Blonde South Hampton's Irish Ale Red Hook's ESB Wagner Valley Maple Porter Stoudts IPA http://www.brazenheadbrooklyn.com/bigswitch.php3?
  12. From the New York Post: We hear that someone at the top table wasn't pleased that Kunz has been so prominently featured in the restaurant's strongly positive reviews. Calls were put out to remind the media that the restaurant is Vongerichten's show.
  13. Thanks, Rosie. I'll try to put together a JC thread when I get the chance. I had the duck at M&P recently as well and thought it was excellent.
  14. Anyone living in the area should check M&P out. A very nice relaxed atmosphere with delicious food & deserts, as well as interesting beer and wine selection. Such a strange location, but soemhow it works.

Isn't there an upcoming cask-fest at one of the spots you just mentioned, BG? The open house Fridays is a pretty good time. Fresh beer puring in a nice open atmosphere with a good relaxed crowd. If you can score a table and bring some tasty food out, you're styling.
  16. The carry the full line at B&E (23rd, just W of 10th). Including the three philosophers which i believe was limited. Whole foods carries Omegang as well.
  17. All is well in my kingdome, thanks for asking Sincerely, The Sausage King
  18. Thanks for the correction, Dryden, absolutely correct. He also called the Chinese version "hot-pot"
  19. A freind recomended Grand Sichuan Chinese Resteraunt on Canal specifically for shabu shabu. He lives in China and was impressed with what they offer. Unfortunately I can not vouch for the quality as I have not been there yet to try it myself. I beliee there are other GSCR locations in Mnhattan, if Canal is not convenient. Happy hunting...
