  1. In case it is of assistance, I saw this the other day : Seattle's Very Own Taco Truck Finder
  2. The Don Curtis place, Volterra, is on Ballard Ave NW near the intersection with 22nd Ave, where Burk's used to be.
  3. Howdy - Yes, Burk's closed a while back (owners decided to retire after 25+ years). The place is going to be reopened in April of 2005 as Volterra, an Italian/Mediterranean place run by Chef Don Curtiss, another welcome addition to our neighborhood.
  4. One resource several of my friends use is the GoCityKids web site - here is a link to the restaurant section - City Guide for Parents
  5. Yes, that is pretty much the case - the WSLCB says that retailers need to sell beer, wine & spirits for above the cost they pay for it, and that free alcohol cannot be used in promotions or advertising (I believe the most relevant legal code and the cases where it does not apply are in WAC 314-11-085). When people pay for a gift certificate for the same amount they can use that certificate to buy spirits as it is treated same as cash, however, when we donate gift certificates or give out ones that are good for things like 'Dinner for Two' then it is not the same as cash and spirits can not be purchased with them, if that makes any sense
  6. You are probably referring to Dante and his cart - yes, you can often find him on Market St in the mid-afternoons (right next to Radio Shack), and down by the Tractor Tavern on busy music nights after dark. He also does some catering gigs like kids baseball games, but those two spots are the most regular.
  7. The Latona is remodelling a bit as it is acquiring a full liquor license and thus may have to upgrade the kitchen offerings . Not sure of the ETA for the reopening.
  8. It is my sad duty to report a fellow Ballard business is leaving us at the end of this month - the Dish Urban Market on Market St. Please go on down to enjoy their 'end of the run' sale. David & Kelly and the whole staff have been good for the area and will be missed. Many have tried to copy their format (some still try to this day) but they did it best.
