  1. Yep, pretty simple and very "folksy" - I was hoping when I found the hidden rooster

that I might win a free subscription just to have won something but no, they still

sent a couple more issues but nothing I'd want to pay for, I'll continue to enjoy

    my Cook's Illustrated subscription.

  2. Hey thanks to everybody who so far made suggestions! I really appreciate it and

have been sending on the information to her. Gourmet had an article about the

Bisbee Breakfast Club this month that made me drool so I made certain I told

her to go there. She leave Saturday. Thanks and if anyone thinks of anything

else to add by all means. They are staying in a rental house, it's 6 women.

  3. Wow! Your meals look great! In a month from today I too will be at Disneyland

although no character dining - no kids involved although we do have a res. for

the chef's counter at Napa Rose. Happy eating, keep reporting! A hui hou

  4. Yep, the fresh tumeric is always a winner! Great in the carrot soup (carrots from

Souane) fabulous cauliflower, broccoli, no strawberries anywhere though, enough

tomatoes to cover our entire counter on the side of the kitchen, haricot vert and wax

beans from Terry in Hauula - his tomatoes will be coming back though! And, each week

those little treasures striped in green & yellow, the Eureka lemons!!!! I actually baked

today to take to dinner across the street, Lemon bars made with these, just unbelievable!!!And I hate to bake!!! You've got to try these lemons!!!! Then of course

all the usual greens, beets, potatoes, corn and such. Saturdays are a treat!!!!!

A hui hou and HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!!!!

whoops! One more n than needed in Souane!

  5. Souane is where he gets the cauliflower and the carrots too. We've been loving the

raddiccio (sp?) from Hana Fresh, we grill it and make a type of light dressing with

anchovies and a few other things and use that with Jeanne's buffalo mozzarella for

a very tasty side dish, we had it the other day at our scrambled egg bar party and also

dipped dozens and dozens of Kula strawberries and won ton pi (from Maebo in Hilo)

in one of those fountains that my neighbor brought over which turned out to be loads

of fun but a real pain to clean! This weekend is egg dyeing probably with GlossyP over

and a few others, the regular group, whatever the market has is what we'll serve!

  6. I think it's at Souane but they weren't there this week. I really love their carrots too. I just roast them and eat them plain. I am also compltely enamored of the beets, the big ones with the bushy tops and chioggia. Do try the cauliflower if you find it! I think that maybe Hana Fresh had some too but I could be wrong since I don't go - it's my husband that makes it his Saturday ritual while I stay home with the dogs and tasks and await the bounty!

  7. We got some great pesto from Jeanne at Big Wave really good. I think she uses it

on the pizza that she makes we had in on pizza at home with her mozzarella and then on roasted potatoes from the market. The carrots have been so good the last few weeks! I've also been enjoying the cauliflower. Kara over at Maunawilli has had

some tasty sprouts in addition to her hydroponic lettuces. The MA'O farms has changed their bags and they now reseal which is a nice thing for their greens mix.

  8. I really enjoyed The Kitchen in August. Although we had a large group (about

    20) the food was excellent. They had a great selection of courses and the

wines that were suggested were beautifully matched. It was very crowded

as it was a Saturday but the service was very attentive and they all certainly

loved what they were doing. I stayed at the St. Julien Hotel which is a lovely

property but the Jill's restaurant was uneven in food from really good to

bad with service to match those extremes. I wish I could have spent more

time there, it was a lovely town. Oh, we also had a buffet at the Dining Hall

in Chataqua park which despite some other comments I'd heard I thought

was very good as well. Oh, I forgot to say this is in Boulder, sorry!

A million years ago (well 1971) I'll never for get one of the best meals in my

memory in Durango. It was a very small place then and we stopped enroute

to doing a river raft trip that would last 10 days on the Colorado river. I met

this group of cool people in the park and they were making pipes out of

peach pits of all things, anyway I hung out with them and it was a great

break from being with my parents. For dinner we went to this little diner

and had the best pork chops ever, I don't recall what made them so

special beyond being cooked perfectly which in itself should be memorable

but the whole meal smacked of comfort, home and fine ingredients.

  9. Haleiwa Joe's a neighborhood standby, we only do carry out from there. It was

a bummeroo that I was so burned out from eating that I didn't get to order my

prime rib which they do a nice job on and is Flinstonian in portion so the dogs

get some after I rinse the salt off. Anyway all I wanted was an order of their

garlic mashed potatoes which were very good with my addition of a big swirl

of white truffle oil. Their calamari was pretty good and the spinach salad also.

Everyone ordered lots of things and it was a good represenatation of their

menu, if we did not live a few minutes away the food certainly would not

have survived the travel time as well as it did/does.

That meal just popped into my head, it's hard to remember everything

that went on those 3 weeks, much of which I would rather not!

  10. The Wednesday morning recap:

Please don't assign numbers to your new movie foods...if a movie is solved before it gets put into a recap, it's not given a number since it's out of play.

Also, we're getting some repeat movies. Try not to use "Pretty Woman", "The Godfather", "Cool Hand Luke", "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom", "Fargo", "Moonstruck", "Fried Green Tomatoes" and "Dirty Dancing" as they've all been used twice.

Some new clues have been added to existing puzzles.

    CONGRATULATIONS TO:

-kartoffel for correctly solving #140 (A peanut butter sandwich, rationed into halves in an attic, and gobbled as a storm rages outside the flapping window.  CLUE: Not only garbage goes into the dumpster.  CLUE: A potful of wiggly things, sampled by the cook) as the film "The Neverending Story".

-Tkrup also solved #150 (In seperate scenes, creme de menthe, tinned and irradiated fruit, tinned ham, tinned peas, tinned beans and.........omelette (also off). CLUE: Absolute rage ! ) as the film "Twenty-Eight Days Later".

    ************

    WAITING FOR CONFIRMATION:

-insomniac has guessed that #123 ("you know what a putenesca is? it means naughty girl's pasta.") is the film "Lemony Snicket Series of Unfortunate Events".

-Toliver has guessed that #123 is "The Goodbye Girl"

We know that #97 is not "Little Miss Sunshine"

    #153 is not "Legal Eagles"

    ************

STILL UNSOLVED AND TAUNTING US UNMERCIFULLY:

    97. Ahi Tuna, a glass of water

    CLUE: toothpaste

    CLUE: Christmas cookies, herbal tea

CLUE: a big stack of pancakes topped with ice cream, whipped cream, M&Ms, sprinkles, and chocolate syrup

    123. "you know what a putenesca is? it means naughty girl's pasta."

    141. An extremely bizarre tea-party. The table is set with beer braised rabbit with carrots, onions and potatoes, a jar of lemonade and butter tarts for dessert.

CLUE: a jar of peanut butter and ants

CLUE: It had a very limited release even though the director is well known for both his direction *and* animation.

    148. In a marketplace, buying pears, Brioche, grapes, fresh cheeses, wine, crusty loaves of bread, and a fresh pork hock

    153. cold hot dogs, mustard, potato chips, beer, milk

    154. REVISED CLUE: A floor picnic of roast chicken, rudely interrupted by monetary concerns and time constraints.

CLUE: there is a concession stand with a big stack of cookies displayed on a long pole and the guy selling the cookies does not like loud music, only "Sha Na Na"

    155. Sugar and HIGH TEA.

    CLUE: Breadcrumbs.

    156. laughing, guffaw....."CHICLETS!!!!!!!!!!!"

    157. In separate instances, a green apple eaten each morning, and a glass of milk and cookies "warm and gooey, right out of the oven."

    ****

NOTE: If you post a movie, please check back to see if the guesses on your movie are correct or not so we can keep the "Still in Play" list accurate.

Also, consider posting more clues if your movie remains unsolved.

    ****

I had a revised clue since my initial post had the wrong #, the movie

should be #156 not #154. My post is right above your recap. Sorry!
