We rent a beach house on the west beach every summer - there is a small place I cannot remember the name of. It is out on the west beach bayside past Jamaica nearer to Sea Isle - there is a marina attached to the back of the restaurant where the boats come into dock. It was very good, very fresh, not a lot of fried/U-Peel-Em things. The prices were higher end for Galveston, but average for somewhere like Austin. Does anyone know if Tony Mandolas still has a Blue Oyster Bar on 59?

This thread makes me want to leave my desk and head for Tamale House #3 on Airport Blvd. Their migas are (like everything else they do) wonderful. Cheesy with crispy tortillas, lots of serranos & tomatoes - mmmmmmm. Try their carne guisida tacos with guacamole & potatoes too. Then there is the price, their appeal doubles. One order of migas feeds 2. The one drawback with Tamale House #3 - no coffee. But since it is so inexpensive you can afford to get yourself coffee harvested by hand from the tops of active volcanoes by virgins.

Bread and all their dangerous high carb friends. Central Market makes a blue-cheese bread that is most excellent toasted with a smear of french butter. We've broached bagles, bread, kolaches and pastries - now Homers & my favorites - mmmmmm Donuts. Ms. Johnson's on Airport has the donuts I crave - the big yeasty guys covered in icing with no nutritional value what-so ever. I am looking for someone with a good boston creme - I like the egg custard (not whipping creme) and real chocolate icing. Let me know if you find one.
