  1. Yup, it's the right episode. I've been seeing commercials for it for the last three days at least, and it's all about Bourdain. Do realize though, that the whole segment will probably be about 5 minutes - max. But, the fun thing to do will be to watch the background of the rest of the season to see just how many times he appears. Miami Ink is edited out of sequence, so there is a very good chance he'll be in the background at least one.
  2. No book as far I can see. There are a couple of online sites that seem to classify to DVD has a hardcover book. That might explain the mix up. I doubt a book on this subject would have gone unnoticed in this group for very long.
  3. The piece I saw about this said they were casting in late June or early July. Just in time for your little dilemma it would seem.
  4. No. It's never been released on DVD. I fear/suspect it will never see the light of day. There's been some problems between the network (yeah, like FN has had much of a clue lately) and production company - if I remember correctly. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will speak up.
  5. I don't remember if it was part of the Asia special, but there has been a Japan episode. There are photos of it on the Travel Channel fan site.
  6. Thank you so much for posting that link. My only thoughts are "Oh. . . My . . . God." I thought I understood how bad things were there - but I didn't have a clue.
  7. Oh, it's sour grapes all right. Unfortunately the TC boards are a haven for trolls and it's not just the "No Reservation" boards. I loved seeing the interaction between Bourdain and Nari. I'd love to see a little more of her too. Maybe Korea part 2?
  8. Oh FN has been doing that for at least 2 years now. They've even run it on the rare weekend, especially right after No Reservations hit the air. I'm more surprised that they haven't started running it earlier.
  9. as in angry angry email?? ← Nope, more like angry if not down right racist, comments over at the Travel Channel forums. Well, I don't know if he's getting email but I've seen some of the posting on the forums over there and that was more than enough for me. But that place has been a haven for trolls - no matter which show board on the Travel/TLC/Discovery channels forums you read.
  10. Are all of these shows filmed yet? Or are your handlers still taking suggestions for where to go in any of these countries? ← They've all been filmed. Puerto Rico is the next episode to air and if my memory serves me it's Tex Mex then one of the India episodes after that.
  11. Iceland? He went back? ← No, it's not a return trip. It looks more like a behind the scenes, making of, let's add some interviews (Bourdain and his crew) and make it look like a brand new episode. Okay, so that's a little more snark than that's really needed, but I can smell repacking of "old episodes" a mile out. Here's hoping that from the 27th on it's new, new episodes. I'll be thrilled to finally have something to watch on Monday nights.
  12. March 20th the Iceland special airs - it's a brand new episode. On the 27th there's a two-hour, not sure where Bourdain's going in that one.
  13. Nope. It needs to be Ramsay paired with Rocco so Ramsay can have a hissy fit and dump a plate of pasta on Rocco after he messes it up becuase he is too busy preening for the camera and burns the garlic and... ← Absolutely! Bets on how long before Ramsay has Rocco in tears? Think Rocco's mama will be waiting in the wings to beat Ramsay if he hurts her boy? Must have Ruhlman do the floor commentary for this one though. No offense to Alton Brown but he's just not match for Ruhlman's wit. I must also remember to stop reading this thread while drinking coffee. I've nearly choked twice.
  14. No way. I'm not the world's best cook by any stretch but I can cook. Most often if I'm cooking for you then I care about you. If I care about you I'm not going to lie to you. It's that simple in my little corner of the world.
  15. My first reaction is I hope "Chris" tipped very well for the stress he put the servers through. Whatever Greenwood's issues, it wasn't quite fair to do that do a decent staff. Reading through some of the comments attributed to Greenwood via her staff I'm stunned. The quote that got me is "food is for eating, not presentation." Okay, then. If she doesn't care how the food looks leaving the kitchen then why would she care if people take pictures of it? Yeah, I know that's a simplistic view but it's mine and I'm sticking to it.
  16. On top of my fridge currently is a large mixer covered in a very tacky plastic cover. A stray pot holder or two and a desk lamp. Yes, a desk lamp. The stove is right next to the fridge and the only light in the kitchen is a ceiling light that is directly behind you when you stand at the stove. Oh ocassionaly things from freezer find their way on top of the fridge. Last item was a bag of french fries, they sat there for about half an hour before I saw them. From time to time either the milk or creamer and sometimes the orange juice will find themselves sitting on top of the fridge. It's so easy to set them there while searching for something else and forget about them. Of course it helps that I'm short enough not to be able to actually see the surface of the top of the fridge.
  17. Nope, there's a second two coming in January (I think). I know there's another season just not exactly sure when. They've been running repeats and if you miss them then you can always buy the dvds.
  18. Oh, the things I love about this time of year. Eggnog - straight, thinned with milk, or in my coffee it just doesn't matter. Peppermint ice cream. Gingerbread ice cream sandwiches. Fruit cake, Claxton I believe. I know I get the 3 log box and enjoy it into the New Year - must remember to add it to my shopping list. Ribbon candy - not that I eat much of it anymore but it's such a flashback from my childhood. It always felt like Christmas as soon as Dad brought that box home. Swedish meatballs - the staple at Christmas Eve dinner. Any novelty candy- this year it's the Cherry Hershey Kisses that I think I'll probably overdose on by the end of the season. Oh, great now I'm really hungry.
  19. I thought that was in the works. I read someplace, maybe here, that it was going to be released in conjuntion with a food event Bourdain was attending. Maybe it was overseas only. For as much as I'm looking forward to buying a dvd or two of No Reservations, I would love to see an uncut version. Or at least a release with outtakes or something. Yes, I'm spoiled. I like my dvds to have extras.
  20. The program, at best should have warned of content prior to it but it certainly isn't Oliver's fault. In regard to Bourdain's No Reservations segment. You'd better believe there were complaints on the Travel Channel message board. All along the same vein, he should have shown the animal mercy and released it back into the wild where it could reproduce and die a happy death after a long life. Okay, so maybe I'm venting a little there. But it boils down to the same thing. If you eat meat you have to take responsibility for where it comes from. It's not pretty folks, but it's the food chain.
  21. Comparing No Reservations to A Cook's Tour is like comparing your children. It's unfair to both. A Cook's Tour may have been the genesis of No Reservations but they are different beasts. It's as if people cannot wrap their minds around the fact that it's a different program. Yes Bourdain and his crew are back. They were the soul of ACT and it's more than present in No Reservations. That soul is what I love about the new show. Bourdain is certainly capable of carrying an hour long program. I almost always felt ACT ended too quickly. The hour long format of the new show is a good balance of food and travel. So, when does the Las Vegas episode finally air?
  22. The dark ones were part of the Return of the Sith/Star Wars III merchandising glut...I have had good luck finding them at party stores like I Party.... KV ← What I meant was since the large M&M's were originally tied to Shrek 2 that perhaps we'd get dark M&M's rolled out not tied to movies in the future.
  23. I loved the dark chocolate ones too, perhaps we'll see them back again. The "adult" M&M's are a variation of the Shrek ones - at least that's what I'm gleaning from this thread. If the dark chocolate ones sold well enough it may be just message enough that we like them and not just the movie they were tied into.
  24. I would have walked out too and agree with the previous reply the staff obviously didn't care.
