  1. When I was in high school at Bannker in the 80s (across from Howard) the Wonder Bread factory was still open. You could smell it through the open windows. We used to go and buy damaged goods in the factory store. Now it is a mall, I think.
  2. I worked at the Capitol Hill Bob's, and later went back and managed while taking a year off from college. Bob sold it and the Glover Park one, and they went down hill from there and closed a year or two later. i think he sold the Bethesda one long before... Also, there was a Steves Ice Cream in Dupont Circle, based on the boston one with the smashed in toppings, but my loyalty was too Bob's. I ate so much ice cream working there that I dont even crave it anymore....
  3. Bob's Famous - I worked at Bob's Famous summers and weekends all through high school, weekends and summers, starting when I was 14. The ice cream was made downstairs, and in high school the ice cream maker used to put a shot of rum in my coke at the end of my shift - we used real rum in the rum raisin. My favorite flavor: Orange Chocolate Chocolate Chip. Bob was a lawyer who quit to make ice cream. There were 3 stores: Capitol Hill, Glover Park, and Bethesda.
  4. I grew up in DC (Capitol Hill) then lived in Adams Morgan until I moved to Rehoboth 8 years ago, here are some quick ideas: great restaurants: Eden, The Cultured Pearl, Go Fish, for mexican, skip the downtown rehoboth restaurants and go to La Tolteca on Rt. 1 in the midway shopping center next to the roadhouse. restaurants i haveheard great things about but havenot tried yet: Dish, Tutto Bene, Striper Bites in Lewes, and Edens sister restaurant (Taste?). Here is an article about dinners Eden is doing: http://www.capegazette.com/storiescurrent/...rest010904.html (I dont work for any of the restaurants, but I do know the peopel at Go Fish! (fish & chips) I lived in England for a year and was so excited when this opened. I havent been to the sit down restaurant yet.) And the Thai place across from Go Fish on Rehoboth Ave (Seaside Thai) is decent. Hope this helps. I miss D.C., esp. Ethiopian, Vietnamese, and Indian food. and Eastern Market.
