  1. There was a story in my neighborhood (Bklyn Heights) paper about G&T becoming TGI Friday's this week, and it had an excellent quote from Marty Markowitz (Brooklyn Borough President, and generally awesome guy), who said "It wasn't so beloved. If it was beloved, it would still be in business." Actual wording may be off, but it pretty much sums up my feelings about it. I ate there a few years ago, it was good, but really dated, for lack of a better word. It's the culinary equivalent of watching Gone With The Wind.
  2. YES! My girlfriend and I had it both times we've been there, and we can't stop talking about it- it's delicious! Does anyone know what the base for that soup is?
  3. Interesting that you would point this out. I've also had bad Batali service experiences, but for me it was both at Babbo and Esca. The bar service at Babbo has always been excellent, but the one time I had table service there (on our first anniversary, having met at the bar there, no less!), our service was so bad- our waiter was completely inattentive, and they neglected to serve us a bottle my friend had reserved for us- that I was compelled for the first time to write a letter to them. The one time I went to Esca, I had similarly unattentive service, and my plate was inedibly bad- again the first time I ever sent a dish back because it was fundamentally awful. Po, on the other hand, I found rather excellent for what it was- simple Italian food.
  4. I'm with JennyUptown. This is astroturf marketing.
  5. Sahadi's does carry them. Not sure of the price offhand, but they're generally dirt cheap.
  6. Here, here. Russ & Daughters has excellent chopped liver.
