  1. Greetings! Might anyone have any ideas about great gifts (grand ou petit) to take to France? (Something that is mayhaps particularly "American" or "Californian.") We asked some Francais recently who replied (of course) that there was nothing of quality here that didn't exist in France. (Apparently they haven't yet tasted the 1999 Hartford Court Zin!) Thanx for your help! lizzie
  2. Salutations! Does anyone know what happened to Le Cottage Marcadet or to its wonderful chef/owner Jean Marie Robin? Merci Bien, lizzie
  3. HI! ecelizzy again! The metro closest to Au Vin des Rues is Denfert-Rochereau NOT Raspail. sorry!
  4. Hi! We'd love to reccomend Le Cottage de Marcadet in the 18th. The owner and chef(Jean Marie Robin) is extremely interested in the comfort of his guests and the food is wonderful (AND reasonable!). 151 bis,rue Marcadet Metro: Lamarck-Caulincourt Also, a wonderful restaurant, serving wonderful wine and food from the Beaujolais region, is Au Vin des Rues in the 14th. Once again, the patron is extremely concerned about the experience of his guests and goes out of his way to make them feel welcome. 21 Rue boulard Metro: Raspail (I believe... ???) Lastly, while amazing food isn't a specialty, Chartier is a wonderful opportunity to be seated with five or more other assorted guests--often French students. Your tab is kept track off on the table cloth and prices are very reasonable! I've never failed to meet an intersting person or two there! (In fact as an exchange student in paris I met a love of my life!) 7 Rue de Faubourg-Monmartre Metro: Rue Monmartre
  5. Greetings! We'd like to suggest Chez Paul, a wonderful generally "tourist-free" bistro in the 11th. Extremely warm service, full of history and culture, and wonderful food (chevre and mint stuffed rabbit is amazing). Chez Paul 13 Rue de Charonne Metro: Ledrou-Rollin Also, the restaurants at L'ecluse (a chain of Parisian wine bars) are often super (AND many wine by the glass choices!). (Many locations; one at 15 Quai Grands-Augustins, Metro: St. Michelle).
