  4. We will be in Melbourne on Dec. 31st and look for ideas how to spend the evening. Some places seem to have prefix dinners (such as Walter´s Wine Bar, which we know from previous visits). But they look pricey with $175 p.p.. We have a downtown hotel reservation. Are there walk-ins that evening? We prefer food and wine related places over dance clubs or beach parties. Any suggestions.
  5. Great report. Makes me think of starting the engine right away. But I have to wait for Sunday, Nov. 9. We are holding a reservation for the "menu creativo" that evening. To step up we will be at Trattoria della Posta in/near Monforte and at Cracco Peck in Milano Friday and Saturday night. Posta will hold its standard I am sure. We haven enjoyed it very much last May. But Cracco Peck? Anyone been there recently?
  6. Anybody local to Waiheke? We will spend 2 weeks in December on the island and I am wondering were to get decent food (stores and restaurants). Or do I have to ferry back to Auckland?

    German Wine Availability

    If you know what you want there is almost always a chance to contact the producers directly. Most of the quality producers in Germany have a homepage these days and if they don´t list their US distributor(s) you can always drop them a line and ask for those. From there you might ask for a retailer nearest to you.

  9. Bill, what´s the actual status on the Universita in Pollenzo? Is the ristorante open now where Piero Acliati reappears? Have you eaten there? Or ware we just days away? I will be down there in November and would be very happy to see Piero again.
