  2. Google tells me that the St. Catharine's Costco in Ontario is only about 80 miles from NYC. 🙂
  3. Are you SURE you don't need a nice shiny new CSO? 😁
  4. I'm going to pretend I didn't see this. I don't have a spare.🫣
  5. Yes, I see it on Cuisinart Canada's website, but not on their US website.
  6. I just recently noticed that Costco Canada has a new model of the CSO available, the CSO-500C. It's redesigned and adds an Air Fry option but it's got the same steam functions. It's $330 Cdn so about $250 USD, not a bad price! But I can't seem to find it in the US. Has anyone else seen it around? https://www.costco.ca/cuisinart-gourmet-pro-steam-air-fryer-oven.product.4000327827.html Edited to add: I'd consider getting one of the new ones, but I still have the CSO-300 in the kitchen and one in a box in the garage! 🙂

    Dinner 2025

Family requested karaage … and I am more than happy to augment the fried chicken to make it a full Japanese dinner: Some pork loins turned into tonkatsu … And plated: Tonkatsu with sweet onion, tsuyu and egg (the classic Katsudon topping), fresh peas intheir pods (a seasonal substitute for edamame), (commercial) gyoza, and the karaage … Tuna tataki with yuzu ponzu … Homemade sides: Silken tofu with spicy meat topping, agedashi masu (fried eggplant in dashi), salt-pickled cucumber with kombu, soy sauce-pickled radish, menma, grated radish with yuzu ponzu, (commercial) Calbee potato sticks. Some sake from the mancave … And - to conclude the meal - a matcha flavored crema catalana … No complaints 🤗
  9. @rotuts. Yes, I didn't like the drippings. Also my rub included quite a lot of salt which "steamed off" in the Anova. Both DH and I had sliced roast for lunch, me in a country style sourdough loaf (Panera) and DH in a tortilla. My roast slices weren't super thin, but they were mighty tasty. I shall have to try this experiment again.
  10. Claire Ptak's banana buttermilk bread... The result of an unfortunate confluence of boredom and gifted bananas, this cake did nothing to change my opinion that banana bread is a waste of a good banana. (Recipe here if you couldn't disagree more.)

    Lunch 2025

We have a couple of monster zucchini to use up, gifts from friends. Mrs. C is making spicy zucchini bread with one, so I used the other for lunch. I started out thinking al mojo de ajo, because that works with zucchini and shrimp, but it ended up a green curry with red onion, green curry paste, and a paste of cilantro, ginger, serrano, habanero, garlic, and palm sugar, plus cumin, cloves, mace, bay leaf, and black pepper for spices. Coconut milk and fish sauce, of course, and a little tamarind for sour. Very, very tasty.
  12. Ha Ha , Ha Ha Ha ! Id die w/o a working CSO. did I mention Im on CSO II ? forgot to keep water in the CSO I , so the steam Fx didn't work as I dsidnt use that for several months. Did I mention that my CSO menagerie cost less than @Shelby 's ? I think $ 175 , average ? Free shipping ? probably no tax ? OK average $ 178 , but not a penny more .
  13. @TdeV so , did you like it initially ? I take it you did not like the ' Jus ' , aka the dripping in the pan , under the roast ? what did you find lacking w those ' drippings ? ' salt ? flavor ? Ive always found the bag jus could be worked with , and I SV w no added salt and I add ' saltyness ' at the end. looks like it will make a good RBSandwich , sliced to tender thinness.
  14. It's not too late for me to cancel my Ebay order if you're willing to part with yours!
  15. I have one of the later ones still in the cardboard shipping box.
  16. No she's right here in KS.
  17. It'd be even funnier if that's who I was buying it from!!! She doesn't happen to live in California?
  18. PS if you wouldn't have bought that one on EBAY I would have
  19. Thanks. It's amazing how we can become attached to devices like this. I'll probably keep it even if the pan doesn't fit - I barely use it with that pan anymore anyway so it's not a huge loss. If it is only a fraction of an inch different, I can always shave down the cast iron pan a bit! Always fun to break out the angle grinder....
  20. Sigh I know. My husbands daughter could prolly make a fortune on hers if she keeps holding on to it lol.
  21. Yay!!! I think you made a good decision. I bet your pan fits.
  22. Also, I find it a little funny that I paid considerably more for the replacement than I did for the original!

  24. Screw it... I bought it. I figure that they have a 30 day return policy in case it's not what I thought - I just pay the shipping back. Thanks for the help, y'all!
  25. There was no sauce, so it was mildly dry. In the ChefSteps video, the chef browned the roast before the sous vide which I didn't do, so I did the browning at the end. I wasn't sure how to apply a frothed egg white coating on warm meat (would it have cooked it? And then should I have cooked it again?) I didn't like roast drippings. I will make a sandwich today and report on the meat as a leftover. We also had new potatos roasted, served with French butter. And a lovely succotash. The okra was broiled/steamed with @Okanagancook's method. Okra was trimmed and threaded on thin skewers, painted with oil, dusted with spices (in this case Ruth Ann's Muskego Ave Seasoning from Penzeys). 400ºF with 25% steam for 7 minutes a side. Our dinner guest raved at how great was the okra that I found myself telling my memories of various dishes Okanagancook has made and tales she told. Unfortunately this was when I realized that I had forgotten to take a picture of the okra. Sorry.
  26. This site has one at a huge price When you look at older listings on Amazon, it shows the N1 in the picture, but labels it as just 300N. I'm still searching to find interior measurements of the 300N.
  27. Interesting - the photo of the box shows the p/n as CSO-300N, but the image of the oven on the box shows the steam clean button. Personally, I don't really care about the steam clean button, I can always just set the oven to super steam at 250F but I'm more concerned about the difference in interior space.
