Saw on the news this morning that Jimmy's Food Store has burned down. Jimmy's was a family-owned Italian Deli/Convenience store on Fitzhugh and Bryan streets near downtown Dallas. Lots of imported goods, and a remarkable wine selection, broken down by regions in Italy.

What a loss: my wife and I would shop there at Christmas for their nougats, in fact we were just talking about when we would go this year.

That's awful. I wonder what happened.
Hopefully, they will be able to open at a new location. We need that place!

They were interviewing the manager and he said they would, and I think it lead me to believe in the same location, unfortunately. I'd like to see it in a less . . . shady area. Maybe near Rudolf's and Mozzarella Co.

Yep I was planning to go there last weekend and just got to busy. It was a shock to see the news this morning.

Well, at least we'll be able to still get nougat for this year's Christmas . . .

The Dallas Morning News reported a couple or so weeks ago that they will open in the same location in about 5 months. I haven't yet visited them at their temporary place in the Quadrangle and probably won't. Can't wait until they come back to East Dallas.

Cool, thanks! I always felt bad not getting stuff at Siegel's but everytime I was down there I had already stocked up at Jimmy's.
