We are two countries seperated by a common language. I have an English recipe that call for fine and porridge oats. I think the porridge oats are rolled oats... but what are the fine oats?

Dan - you are correct - porridge oats are rolled oats. My understanding is that fine oats are the same thing, just milled to make smaller flakes. In the absence of fine oats on the shelf, I'm sure you could just put them in a blender/food processor, and get the same result.

It could mean fine oat meal - but when I have had none I have put the rolled oats in the processor, and the recipe worked fine.
