Help Topic: Accessing the eG Forums from your mobile phone

Accessing eG Forums from your Mobile Phone

Besides accessing the full version of the site from your phone's browser, there are three other options (including two paid options) you may wish to consider: please note that the Society does not charge for access to the forums, and receives no money from your purchase of this software (please consider becoming a Society Donor if you'd like to help keep the forums running). Note that the Society cannot provide support for this software: please contact the provider to report bugs.

The Mobile Skin

At the bottom of every page when viewing the site from a mobile browser you will see a link to "Use Mobile Version": this is an alternate view of the site provided by our software provider that is (theoretically) more finger-friendly. You can always try it out, and switch back if you don't like it.

Tapatalk
At the request of a number of members we have installed the TapaTalk plugin here at the eG Forums. TapaTalk is an app you install on your phone that provides an improved user interface for browsing the forums on the go. The app is available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, Droid, Blackberry, Windows Phone 7, WebOS, and Nokia smartphones. The iPhone and Droid versions cost $2.99 and are available at the app store for each phone. Please note that all of this money goes to the developers of Tapatalk: the Society does not charge for access to the forums.

IPS Communities

NOTE: At this time the Invision software is quite buggy, and we do not recommend using it.
A possible alternative to Tapatalk is to use our software provider's native app: "IPS Communities", available for iOS devices. This app costs $1.99 (again, the Society does not receive any of this money).
