Does anyone know where i can go peach and necterine picking. The place i usually go eastmont orchards is having trouble with there fruit this year i think it was the weather or didease im not sure. I do know it must be an epidemic because another farm called trauchirer(sp) farm is also not picking this year i think because of a bad crop as well. Does anyone know of anywhere else to go and if this epidemic is hitting the whole state?

You might want to call Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck.

Alstede's in Chester had peaches at the Madison greenmarket last week. Took a few days in the brown sack, and they were perfect.
Apparently it's easier still to dictate the conversation and in effect, kill the conversation.

David,
I was about to have an shock attack  just thinking that the store part of Delicious Orchards was changing hands! Upon further investigation into their websites
http://www.eastmontorchards.com/
http://www.deliciousorchardsnj.com/
I figured out that it was their orchards that moved away from the D.O. name. WHEW!

Movin' to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches
I'm movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat me a lot of peaches
I'm movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches

Peaches come from a can, they were put there by a man
In a factory downtown
If I had my little way, I'd eat peaches everyday
Sun soaked in bowls just in the shade

Movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin' to the country, I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
I'm movin to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches
Movin' to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches

I took a little nap where the roots all twist
Squished a rotten peach in my fist
And dreamed about you woman
I poked my finger down inside, makin' a little room for a ant to hide
Nature's candy in my hand or can or a pie

Millions of peaches, peaches for me
Millions of peaches, peaches for free
Millions of peaches, peaches for me
Millions of peaches, peaches for free

Look Out!

Millions of peaches, peaches for me
Millions of peaches, peaches for free
Millions of peaches, peaches for me
Millions of peaches, peaches for free

Look Out!

Not to change the subject too horribly, but as you've brought up Delicious Orchards (Fresh Habaneros! Be still my heart...), have you had a chance to try Christofers Cafe across the street from DO? Very nice little gem...

Mark,
Haven't been there as of yet-but have heard of it. What type of restaurant is it? Are they BYO? Is that where Ray's Seafood used to be?

It's a very small new American type BYO that does breakfast lunch and dinner Wednesday thru Sunday. They do really good soups and salads and have a crispy pan seared duck entree that's wonderful.

Rays is still there, this place is in the little group of shops just south of there.

I don't know if he's got peaches...
