Jason Perlow, one of the founders of eGullet.com and a director, officer and staffer of the eGullet Society for Culinary Arts & Letters, announced today that he's retiring from his active Society duties in order to pursue an independent food blogging project (Off the Broiler) and his career as a technology writer and consultant.

With great appreciation for his years of selfless service and financial support on behalf of the organization, we wish him well in these ventures. Jason will remain an emeritus member of our staff and of course, he carries the title of founder. He will also continue to serve on the Society board of directors.

Jason has tendered his resignation from the Society and from its board. We'll be distributing the following press release:

Jason Perlow, founder of eGullet.com, has resigned from the board of directors of the eGullet Society for Culinary Arts & Letters in order to pursue other interests.

Perlow, together with Steven A. Shaw and five colleagues, founded eGullet.com in 2001, and it quickly became the pre-eminent food and restaurant discussion website. In 2004, eGullet.com was succeeded by the eGullet Society for Culinary Arts & Letters (eGullet.org), a tax-exempt not-for-profit public charity dedicated to increasing culinary awareness. Perlow was a director, officer and manager of the Society. In April of this year, he stepped down from active management duties in the Society.

"Jason's incredible energy and talent were instrumental in the success of eGullet.com and, later, the eGullet Society," said Shaw, executive director of the Society. "The Society owes him many thanks, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
