Anyone try any of these?

I needed a quick dinner for tonight, so picked up a package of the ground beef seasoning to use with vension tacos. The ingredient list is relatively impressive. Seems to get decent reviews from what I see, and I would hope that Rick wouldn't put his name on crap. Either way, I'll let you all know how it goes tomorrow.

I tried the Chipotle Garlic Taco Skillet Sauce (on ground beef instead of the suggested steak)...the result was not terrible, but I believe the general consensus was "classy Manwich".
True rye and true bourbon wake delight like any great wine...dignify man as possessing a palate that responds to them and ennoble his soul as shimmering with the response.

Frontera was among the best meals I had in Chicago, and I've been a long time fan of Bayless' projects. That said, the sauces that I enthusiastically purchased at Whole Foods were uniformly unimpressive. The consensus among my friends (all in the food industry) was slightly-above-average grocery store mass-market sauces, and not really worth trying to keep on hand. Just my $.02.

Ha! That was great.

Overall, the sauce wasn't bad. It won't replace real, traditional seasoning, but it was certainly better than the little packets of dry seasoning. For quick meals, I'll stick with the sauce for now.

On a side note, this is the first time I used ground venison for tacos, and it's damn good. It just works really well - now my favorite taco meat.

The Bayless Burger King commercial gave birth to an EGullet classic thread. At risk of waking the sleeping leviathan ...
